I know that feeling....ready to be done with a project!
This is a stressful time in the project-phase for me too.
You should always work at whatever speed remains fun, otherwise it just feels like work.

how does the front of the bottom look?
square- ]
curved to a point (this but longer)- }
triangular- >
because if it's pointed, then the only other way I can think of is adding a strip to the bottom, though this wouldn't let it stand up...

to be honest i have thought to add skids like a sleigh... two at that... and the front bottom is for now very uneven...main pain so to speak... that has to be fixed tomorrow... i thought i get me some half disk shaped sticks...like so:
and maje the ends nice and round and thus let the boat sit on thoe and it can be dragged on the carpet then...

Why it's too late to add a wheels? If you can add skids, then it's possible to add wheels on this skids. May be some kind of a removable wheels, so the ship can sail any surface. I know, it sounds tricky...
Well, just my thoughts of that matter.

well the skidds would mainly be just some lenght of wood shaped to fit the bill...for wheels i firstly had to have wheels that i could use, and then i had to mount them and also i had to sink them into the belly of the ship... so not to raise the ship to high...i should have thought about that before...sadly my planning lacks forsight...most of the time anyway...

What about fitting small wheels from some toy into the skids? It's never too late, like they say...
But, well, I understand you - it's really a pain in the ass to add or remove something, when you're almost finished. In most cases it's unnecessary even.

you have a valit point mate... but for this project i also have to consider the force my kids are able to muster up... so it will only be skids... i have to say i feel more comfy for this solution...if i would have to make wheels work here i had to drill big wholes into the hull....very uncomfy feel about that at this time i say...

The images of the Imperial boats were caravels(ancient trade ships) but your present boat for the boys and their wars seems a bit more advanced than that medeival design the GW posted

well i guess a bit of the steampunk influence is also there... at löeast it will get a steely bow...which porbably will do a lot to set the thing apart from other ships...some things it seems i cant do without^^

I say fix a couple of working cannons and add a steel prow (just make sure to sharpen it)
that would be safe for the kids, right?
As long as the prow isn't coated in lead paint and the cannons only fire ball bearings?

playmobil cannons could work- after all, it'd be better bought as then the characters can hold the loading stick thingies and they can actually fire.
