I read some battle reports recently about tau battlesuits having 2 sets of missile launchers, or again 2 flamers, and counting them as seperate weapons, so 4 missiles per suit not twin linked and 2 flamer templates. Was there some faq that un twin linked them to give the army more punch, or was someone clueless?

Runnin up on ya.

You can't have two of the same weapon as far as I know...and suits only have 3 hard points so if you have two missile pods, they're 1 twin-linked missile pod.

Someone was definitely clueless.

When I first started with Tau, I thought a shield drone would provide 4+ invul. to the whole squad.....thought it was great when my firewarrior squad took down a DP in close combat....

I concur. SMS has the same problem on fishes. Now it'd be AWESOME if we could take 4 hardpoints...certainly would up the FP...

Yeah but the cost per model would be too high considering how easy they are to kill...

Anytime there are two of the same weapon on a battlesuit, it's twin linked. The only weapon in the tau codex that doesn't follow this rule is the smart missiles, which only vehicles and broadsides can take.

Sad panda, I thought I had missed some fantastic faq, as 2 missile system/plasma or fusion blaster suits would be sexy.

errr...you know there is only one smart missile system on the vehicles and broadsides?

edit: The only weapon that doesn't follow this rule is Shadowsun's fusion blasters

I think what Juraigamer meant was that the SMS takes up 2 "Weapon hard-points" but is neither 2 weapons nor T-L.

This is best illustrated on the hammer-head and the Broadside: the Broadsides 2 arms each get a Plasma rifle(as a single T-L Plasma rifle), or together get a SMS. The Hammer head gets either a single SMS or 2 independent Burst Cannons.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

Yea but I meant that purely from a modeling perspective. The two sides of the smart missile system are in fact that exact same system, it's just that for some reason (probably an easy new codex fix) the smart missile system is the two parts as one gun.

Also I don't count the tau special characters as anything, as they are anything buy useful. Shadowsun is, while a decent looking model, horribad and her rules state the difference for her guns anyway.
