maybe its just me.... but the dex says i can equip the whole squad with thunderhammers .... so then why is there only a single hammer in the entire set? apoticary bits = win, 5 sets of falchions also = win.... 5 halbreds....awsome.... but only 1 hammer??

sigh.

that and the fluff is simply dumb... GK are looking like a failed update.

They're pretty powerful, so I will have to disagree with the being a "failed update". GW just wants you to buy 4 more boxes...

The hammer in the box isn't a Thunderhammer.

It's a Daemonhammer.

As kan said.

Also, you cant really ask for alot more can you?
You get a bloody lot as it is in the set, infact, far more than most sets they put out now.

Dark eldar dont even have one of thier weapons yet, and they have been out alot longer.

Edit: If you were to get every possible item in a set, box's like death company would be stupidly priced.

10 thunder hammers, 10 power fists, 10 power weapons ...... The list goe son and on.
But for the sake of cost and sanity, its not possible to include every possible upgrade for a unit in most cases.

On moon miranda.

I can't think of a boxset off the top of my head that includes enough pieces to do anywhere near all the upgrade options, but that said, the GK Termi box gives you a lot more than most kits. The CSM termi box is a disaster in terms of the bits it contains.

And yeah, while the new GK's are powerful, the "update" really made them lose a lot of their "special" feel, they're more like basic SM's than ever before.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

I don't see a fail here. Without Storm Shields, why would I want a full squad of GKs at I1?

I see no reason to equip my squads with more than 1(2 at the extreme most) Hammer.

Also, the kit has so many parts and you can get so many good poses out of it, it's worth only getting 1 Hammer.

true... i just thought it odd that you get enough to equip all with the other weapons, and not the hammers. i plan on going halbreds myself... and i must admit the kit does look nice and mould lines are well hidden.

i still have issues with the fluff though. and the initial rules look iffy.... ill have to play around with them so more. i did buy the dex and some initial kits though, so i guess its not a total fail.

edit: if the hammer is a daemon hammer, i take it its intended for a palladin squad upgrade?

edit:
im also thinking my initial impression was based on "oh wow i get all these falchions/halbreds/swords...but 1 hammer? errr..." or something. but if this is indeed a daemon hammer, then ill concede the point and otherwise agree its a nice kit. the extra options are indeed nice to see.

That's probably the best marine set ever created. It's irrational and silly to complain about something like "not enough weapons".

Look at the chaos Terminator set
3 Twin linked bolters
combi flamer
combi melta
3 power weapons
2 power fists
1 chainfist
reaper and heavy flamer
NO extra shoulder pads
NO extras other than trophy racks
NO lightning claws
NO Extra Heads that are helmeted

You get extra shoulder pads, extra heads, extra torsos, extra weapons (!!!!! LOTS), banner, icons, stuff, guns.

5 greatswords
5 storm bolters
1 incinerator
1 psycannon
1 psilencer
5 halberds
5 pairs of falchions
1 daemonhammer
1 warding staff
1 banner
13! heads

Was not good enough for you. Sorry.

I only complain that there is only 2 sprues for the grey knights strike squad. (if only it had one more of just heads i would be satisfied!)
But I don't complain finally GREY KNIGHTS IN PLASTIC!
BE HAPPY!
the Terminator set is incredible!

Besides, all you need to do is buy a vanilla assault termie box and you are golden. Granted thats another $50...however GW does still sell thunder hammers as bitz

Cut off the Blade of the halberd, then cut two sections of equal length sprue and glue them wide-side together. sand the middle so you get a hammer-like shape, glue it onto where the blade on the halberd was. Voila extra Daemonhammers. But yeah like other's have said, I dont see why you'd want more than one or two anyways.

without the SS hammers are kinda redundant.... especially with a banner and halbreds... 3 init 6 atks each is win. as i said, i saw all the other options and i guess i alsmot expected to see the full set of hammers too. that would just make the kit TOO good i think.

otherwise, anyone else figure on using this box as a "custom HQ maker kit?"

Just buy a C:SM terminator box set and you have all the "Daemonhammers" you need.

May I ask why you would EVER want all your terminators with Daemonhammers? They are already potentially STR10, so your going to be smashing vehicles regardless of how many you have, and their not all that great against infantry compared to the other options. 1 per 5 terminators is perfect in my opinion.

1 DH seems enough.

maybe 2 in a squad of 10.

and this goes for all GK squads, not just Terminators.

if you must have more hammers, just get some bits off of E-bay.

My bits box is swimming in THs after making a bunch of Vanilla assault terminators.

I am swimming in powerweapons just after buying the Space Wolf stuff.
(I.e its a good buy. So much better than a tactical squad!)
Grey Knight Strike squads don't really look that good compared to the death company stuff. For me it should be priced around the same as a Dark angels Kit.

Man, it totally sucks that they get like 90% of their options! Totally unfair, and a huge flub by GW. I think they should redo the entire GK range to reflect this, and push Tau, Sisters, and Necrons back to 2013 to accommodate for it. While we're at it, let's remake the Space Wolves box set because they only come with plasma guns - we could really use melta and flamers! C'mon GW, get with the program, gosh!
