it's something you care less about once you get a little higher up. I obsessed on a couple of ranked forums till I hit about 1000+ posts. then it matters less.

As you get higher most of the names tend to just be small modifications to the last one you had. When I use to have the Khorne style ranking I was a Berserker for about 3-4 milestones before I got turned into a Dread (then back to a Terminator I think, never bothered to follow it after I hit berserker).

I only get excited when I'm less than 100 away from the next one, then the feeling fades as I remember I'm 1000 away from the next one...

I never much cared for rankings, and it doesn't really matter now that I get a custom one.

I'm always obsessed with any forum I join's ranking system. If only because the number of posts and title add a bit of weight to what I write. Right now I'm just some noob despite having played wargames for more than 18 years!

"I have concluded through careful empirical analysis and much thought that somebody is looking out for me, keeping track of what I think about things, forgiving me when I do less than I ought, giving me strength to shoot for more than I think I am capable of. I believe they know everything that I do and think, and they still love me. And I’ve concluded, after careful consideration, that this person keeping score is me." -Adam Savage

Ha. Newbie. That only has 10 posts and has only been playing for 18 years! (JK)
Its always very confusing, but yes mostly teenagers younger than me have less posts than I. And the adults have more posts than me interesting... Why do they have more posts than I? It doesn't make sense. Teenagers have no lives right now and spend all their time on the computer. While adults do work and such!

A new day, a new time zone.

There's a ranking system?

Etna's Vassal wrote: If only because the number of posts and title add a bit of weight to what I write.

No they don't. Or at least, they shouldn't. I know I treat post counts, and any title other than 'Mod' as meaning feth-all of anything.

Meaningless bs.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Yeah....I don't think anyone puts any stock into your number of posts.

1/3 of the Dakkanauts with ridiculously high post counts rarely leave the OT forum (or did, but it is closed now) - meaning that they almost never contributed anything here.

Alpharius and Waaaugh! Gonads have ridiculously high post counts. 13-19k. I wonder how many thousands of those posts are in the 800 page or so thread in the DCM forums that entirely consists of pictures of scantily clad women?

Don't put value on the number of posts someone has, but rather in the content of what they write.

Anyone who visits the YMDC forum also tends to generate huge amounts of posts, that or start an argument somewhere by pointing out a tiny flaw in someone's logic. Sometimes I wonder if half the population of Dakka does this solely to generate post count.

HA! You would like to think that, wouldn't you!

But you are correct, quite a few people whom have high post counts don't usually say anything special, it just means we are around the longest.

Me, for instance. I spent alot of time playing Warhammer, but my Gaming Group all moved away/stopped playing, so I stopped posting in the 40K Forums and moved over to the Off Topic Forum, because I still wanted to talk to people who had similar interests as me. Now that I convinced a friend to play a game or two again, I figured I would see what was going on over here.

I am definitely obsessed with my rank. I can't wait to be an admiral.

But then I realize I will be an admiral when I reach 20 000 000 posts or something like that, and I feel stupid.
