If I recall correctly, all ten thousand of them took a major part in the siege of terra and barely took any losses. THAT my friends says something. Their training is more difficult and complex than that of a grey knight, they are much more skilled, better armed, better armored, and just.... fething scary. I wouldn't fight them. Not even if I was a Grey Knight.

How about a chapter being decimated and renamed? Huh? Like Chapter Seanron?!

Or, hey, how about a last great battle with f*k'd up Imperialists mounting a barricade at the footsteps of the Throne Chamber against a Horde of CSM, daemons, anything ugly enough to qualify, then Warp beings infect the defenders and a chapter turns traitor, causing internal strife!

My best guess is they are still moving towards terra with all possible haste, but have run into a bit of trouble and are just beatin the crap out of it and still movin.

This is arguable. The quote which spawned the debate over how many custodes there are was something along the lines of 'the ten thousand blades of the custodes' and this led to the major confusion. I'm going to call it 10,000.

10,000 seems to be an awful lot. As in "Horus would never have stood a fething chance" awful lot. A legion of Custodes could probably single-handedly save half the Imperium AND still protect the Emperor. They weren't a legion, they were his personal bodyguard.

I know that. Just consider that they were one of the few armed forces in the Imperial Palace before the IF, the Imperial Palace being a heavily fortified Europe.

I don't like getting into fluff debates. GW has conflicting story lines. 40k fluff is very similar to the bible in alot of ways.

LOL. In all respects I have read the line saying 'the ten thousand blades of the custodes' and i would have to agree that there are 10,000...... too fething much in my opinion. Imagine assaulting the imperial palace with anything shorter than Horus's 9 traitor legions (including titan LEGIONS). Now with all the extra protection i would rather bomb it to hell from space than face 10,000 custodes. Imagine how big of a force it would take to storm the imperial palace!!!!

I can see an awful lot of stuff getting smashed by that...

Orbital bombardement...delayed by intervention of the Imperial Navy who have gathered all ships they can, losing lots to the Warp, even more to the writhing ships of chaos!

According to some fluff, the Emperor created his Primarchs in Labs deep under the Himalayas...We could have a fancy ivory-tower and gold-architecture city covering all of Europe, while the real defences are under fortified mountains in the Asian ranges.

I could even go on to propose a three step war:

The bulk of the Warp army land on aforementioned city, and lay it to waste. We get a nice little gore scene where chaos abominations come and find a few billion defenceless civilians that don't want to play with them. Astartes watch horrified as civilians are plucked from under the rubble and beeeep *insert vilest, most disgusting sadomasochistic nightmare you have ever had* .

The horde, having spent all the available souls and sacrificing them to the Warp in all manners and forms, advance over the Eastern-Europe wastelands and are momentarily held back by a legion of previously Chaos-aligned Space Marines in search of redemption, but are beaten silly in minutes. With the brave warriors' broken bodies impaled on spikes, the horde slithers, luched and marches its way to the Mountain gates, stronghold chokepoint to the preserved remains of the dead emperor and final attempt at resistance of Mankind.

Three, well, its up to Seanron to decide the whether the Houmanz are slaughtered or not, is it now?

BTW, who cares if the Custodians got a few extra recruits?! In this last ditch attempt to save everyone and everything, noone relies on rank and caste, just bravery and an united effort!

it was about 80 something pages, that thread was so full of WIN, I joined Dakka because of it, i foolowed it since around page 50 lol, I had to go back and reread everything.

OT, this thread is so amazing, Seanron you are a very very talented writer, to write fluff like this one must have some sort of tactica- CREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED
