I think it looks TT-quality, but all your other mini's make it look like crap (that's a backhanded compliment there), and a few grooves and some fauna are all that's needed.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Before I go, I use those plastic scouring pads. Either the ones on washing up sponges or bought in a pack.

You can tease out the stuff and add flocking* for leaves.
Will try and do a tutorial if anyone is interested as need a few trees for fantasy and a new skirmish game have just started.

*gonna try some dried herbs next time

i have thought about herbs and tealeaves too, that sponge parts sounds interesting to say the least...a tut on that could be very helpful here...and a simple pic as a reference for the scouring pads would be nice as there are zillion different forms of that around...^^

no need for lonley ville, tho the pun got lost on me... speach impediment right there^^...

Just took a few pics to try and illustrate.
Sorry for the quality taken in poor light.

Bog standard washing up pad. The rough scourer pulls off tehy sponge easily.
You can also buy packs of the scourer pads cheaply.

The scourer is then teased apart and with care can be made even thinner.

Trees made a while agao and suffering a bit, they need fixing and having some better foliage applied.
Will try and get aroubd to sticking some Oregano or Marjaram on and re painting

lol Hero Quest is ace!
Needed some graveyard scenery pronto and the HQ pieces fitted the bill really well!
Saves me having to start scratching some, at least for a while.

The trees would have benefitted from better scatter and technique, but they were not too bad at the time for a first attempt. Bit battered now so they may get a pruning and some new spring leaves at some point!

with catachans as base for the troops, there is little chance to not get this implicatin firsttime^^...

today came my order from bits and kits^^ horray^^

so i am now in the process of making some new minis...

happy happy joy joy!

i am atm building a catachan command body to be the main leader of the gang...the one body standing with one foot on a skull...the guy is cool^^

also i now have this officer arm with a stick, and this will be my aproach of maybe even a commissar or a highranking officer...i am not sure which atm...both will get slightly raised bases to highlight their superiority...

pics will follow...

lol... was about to do some pics...but fuzzy me left the cam in the bedroom... now my wife is soundly asleep and i dont wont to disturb her for mere photoshots of WIP minis...
so delay until ´mnorrow but then in daylight and this will be so much better...

question regardless:

i am currently doing the cadian version of shotgunner vets and i think about which heads to use...:
got ten of them for a whole squad even one of them has a micro attached to his helmet so i could make a vox vet that way...
as for sergant: (sorry real minipic)

also i could throw in the occaisional

as to look as if they had masks as well...

and for a leader of catachans i found this in my bitsbox...:

with this body
he looks a bit like the commander from the movie avatar...

thoughts? needs? comments?

i am all yours^^

nice! I can imagine the skipper now, stood proudly on a skull, shotgun resting by his shoulder, smoking a fat cigar and uttering the line "I love it..." you know the rest.
I hope he has a shotgun...maybe a massive one with a drum mag...
And I really hope you paint stubble on his chin...

sorry to disapoint you but he got the catachan bolter arm... he is positioned in such way that he looks at his troops from a bit higher poit and has his weapon posed in such way as if he is jsut showing as much machismo as he could muster...of course he holds a bowie in his othe hand in a friendly non menacing way too^^

A catachan...leader...heavy bolter...muscly...you definitely have to use harker's rules.

The cadian model with the shades is ALWAYS a winner, a full squad will look great. For the bald fistmaster of doom i would maybe suggest giving him a bolt pistol as the las pistol doesn't fit with the Power fist IMO.

at perkustin:
yep thats true if your going for that bald action hero look there is no fun in only doing a fancy laspistol...got someboltpistols so i swap them...

and i also thought a full squad would look ace...a bit cold looking but cool nevertheless^^...so a vet squad in shade it is^^

and shrike...yep, frightingly oh too many not painted...

so peeps here at dakka it is pictureupdate friday^^

done four cadianbased vets with shotguns...fully kit and meaning business...

the last pic is a bit blurry, the cam didn´t quite focus right for the outreaching gunarm of the "broken" footslogger...^^

and here i did a commanding bushwhacker...i had this vision of:

so i made him:

despite the fact that this mini has an eyepatch he looks mightyly the spiting image to me...true badassery at work^^

and this is the total opposite of the former as here i made a gentleman of an officer...with moustache...for shrike^^ he will get a treatment for the redesining of his upper head as of now he still has a metalcup of a fantasy helmet on top...

thanks peeps, comments would be greatly apreciated^^

that eyepatch guy looks completely badass. My old FLGS manager had an army of catachans with cadian heads, they looked ace...shame they had a crappy paint scheme...

That jolly good chap...what's he going to be? CCS? PCS?

that is a very good question... and i currently have no answer to that, probably a CCS char but it could be any other special character...i just have an inspirational hit at the back of my head and i am then in the process^^ no real concious thinking involved^^

for the paintscheme of the catachans i have thought about the needed red... of course black boots and then something to get a bit of british contrast too... like a bit of brownish pants or even white... but white doesnt work to good with catachans...

hmmm...i definatlky didn´t want to use green here... that would be to sterotypical catachan looking and wouldn´t blend in well with the rest of the victorian army...even if the aussis are downunder they should at least look like they are loosly stuck with the whole army together...

maybe i even try an idea i read in this thread:

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/90/235872.page

using only washes on the important parts of the uniform...i think i hav to do a test of that...
