It would be quite simple to save space in a codex and include cult terminators. Simply add the option of for +X pts replace all wargear with the following, etc etc.

That's incredibly clunky and barely works for independent characters. You need a whole new list of further upgrade options and you invalidate most of the existing base Wargear items in the unit's listing. And what about Bikes and Jump Packs and Havocs?

That only serves to trivialize the concept with the simple question... "if it good enough for cult terminators, why not the cult marines?" Cult marines have been watered down to fit the mold of "troops"... By returning them to elite status it allows their rules to do their concept justice. As long as their rules are so simple that they could simple be replaced with Mark of _____ gives "x" and "y" they don't serve the codex as a whole by being distinctive enough overall.

It sounds like you'll need lots of plague zombies. Be thankful so many companies make decent and well priced zombies.

I just hope Chosen are badass, with a better profile than base Chaos Space Marines.

Basically Purifiers or Paladins of the Chaos Space Marines, equally viable as Balanced, Close Combat or Shooting platforms (though with the current Rulebook, the new hotness power weapons are a step in the right direction with a mix of Axes, swords and Maces. I still think Spears should give +1 Initiative for being counted as a two handed weapon)

You could always try and free up enough points to take Typhus.

IF typhus unlocks Plague marines as troops.

The confusion on that third flyer model is due to folks not knowing if "The Dragon" will be part of the earlier flyer wave, or part of the Chaos Space Marines launch wave. I would expect August to be split into an early and late month dual release slots. We should have official word from retailers on the early August releases any day now.

Not at all! Sometimes BOLS rewords their info from other sources aside from Faeit

White Dwarf comes out at the end of the month typically, around the 30th. Leaks happen from other countries up to a week earlier than that.

So anyone reckon we should start getting more solid info tomorrow or very shortly? Tbh I expected white dwarf leaks today or yesterday.

Yup, leaks start usually happening about tuesday-wednesday next week. That's the earliest WD leaks I've seen.

There's already a half decent head for one


Even if you want Guard allies, you can at least get close enough with Cultists. Also, looks like I'm not going to be very productive at work Monday and Tuesday this week!

Yeah, I hope cultists do have some equipment that would allow a certain degree of conversion to turn them into guard. Well, they are supposed to have autoguns so I guess that'll work.

Leaked info from the basic starter set gives them exactly the same statline as regular marines and a mess of wepons options, a bit like they are now...only done badly in that particular selection.

Keep in mind, however, that the starter set ignore pretty much all special rules, so even if they have a blah statline, they could still be good/interesting.

Hopefully they'll have some pics.

And I was astonished about the lack of comments on that piece of information.

Kelly is a good and consistent author and has shown very good story writing in the DE codex.

On the rules side, though I wouldn't mind Mat Ward though. He wrote strong books while Kellys DE never really left the midfield.

While I'm not advocation a OP chaos dex, some more power would be nice after this long lean time with the Gav 'dex.

Indeed, if it was by Mat Ward, I'd just skip the fluff if it's incredibly bad, and get to the rules.

Well Kelly did a pretty bang up job making the Space Wolves well rounded (even thought everyone and his mother are spamming Fangs), so I am looking for a similar treatment for Chaos.
