Mine was last years 'Ard Boyz, i was playing a spearhead deployment mission with my newly purchased nilla marines vs my friends Black Templar, me being a new player had never beaten my friends Black Templars, He was running 2 crusaders packed full of badassness with a few other things, i was playing 3 vindi's, pedro, and dreads in drop pods. He got turn one moved everything forword, and then nothing, my turn one i wrecked or destroyed both raiders, rhinos, and his lone dread! he gave up by the bottome of turn 2! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!

The first game I ever won was one of the best. The game was three objectives, one in each deployment corner, one in the centre. LOS blocking terrain surrounded the two corner objectives. He was a vanilla marine player, I was running mech IG. Long story short, I held my objective with a chimera with vets, he held his with a squad of marines I couldn't see, and we contested the center objective with some mech vets, a russ and he had a squad of scouts with Tellion. My last turn, I emptry every shot into the squad with only Tellion left...with a 2+ cover save. Every. Single. Shot. Fails. I hit with multiple plasma shots, multilasers, meltaguns, but he makes every save. I look around the table and realize I can fire a single flashlight from a meched up vet. Hit. Wound. He rolls his save...

Dies. Flipped a 1. The last guardman with only a flashlight. Was probably shooting at what he though was a squirrel until Tellion stumbled out and died.

IG won 2:1.

Epic.

Best one for me was a 2.5k battle against a necron playing friend. He had the Night bringer surrounded by Lord with Res Orb, 10 Pariahs, 10 Flayed ones, 20 Immortals, and 40 Warriors.

I went first, moving forward with Baron and 12 Hellions up one side, my wyches up the other, and 3 trueborn squads and 2 Warrior Squads in the center in 5 Venoms. Did all shooting but the Venoms and realized they were in both Monolith and NightBringer's shooting range, so decided to see if I could get rid of Nightbringer for a bit of ease on my Venoms. Shot all 5 Venoms at the Nightbringer, killed him, and he exploded 6"!!! He took out 7 Pariahs, all the Flaed ones, all the Immortals, and 20 Warriors between the two squads, and put a wound on the Lord. His turn one, he failed enough WBB Rolls that he phased out! Was epic that he killed most of his army for me!!

Best DE moment in the old codex had to be when my 750 pt DE army took out 1700 pts of Tau, with my Archon alone accounting for 5 12 man Fire Warrior squads!!

Kabal of Isha's Fall 12000PTs

Best DE advice ever!!!

Having a Unit of 18 boyz fail a ld test after being double tapped by a TAC squad but still being over half strengh I figured they would prolly rally and let me claim a backfield objective.

This was not to be however as the constantly failed to recover and the units nob actaully killed enought boyz to take the unit below half strengh thanks to the bosspole rules.

The mental picture of a horde of orks running of the table while the nob leading the unit flails about with his PK killing boyz as he tries to restore moral was bloody funny.

Damn I cant wait to the GW legal team codex comes out now there is a dex that will conquer all.

Just to let you know, you can only apply the bosspole once per turn.

As for me, fully tooled up mob of 5 PK nobz and PK warboss attacks a moving valk (so 6s to hit), EVERYTHING except 1 attack fails to hit, that 1 attack blows the valk out of the sky! I imagine in frustration at not being able to reach the valkyrie with his PK, the warboss got angry and threw his attack squig at it, which got sucked into an engine

Had to be the only time my DP paid for himself and then some. In three turns he accounted for an 8 elf squad of Fire Dragons, 12 Banshees, 2 Exarchs and pinned the Avatar while shrugging off fire, in between combats, from 2 Pathfinder units.

Oh easy one here "Inquisitor Neo"

In my wisdom I do a bit of target priority and ignore the large unit of kroot charging up my flank.

These kroot get within charge distance of my Inquisitor and his retinue (a sage and 2 guns servitors). The kroot charging and are rolling about 40 dice give or take. They kill the retinue and I manage to make a scarily large amount of 3+ saves, taking no wounds.

My inquisitor retaliates, 4 atks, 4 hits, 4 dead kroot, this means I win combat by 1 point. Kroot take Ld test, roll and 11.

They roll their retreat distance.... a 1, I roll to chase ... a 5.....dead unit of kroot.

We liken this to the scene from Matrix Reloaded with Neo taking on all the Smith clones. Was awesome.

Oh then next turn the Tau player decided he wasn't going to take any chances and leveled most of his army's guns at the inquisitor.

my favorite moments always involve something weak killing or hurting something horribly powerful!

My all time favorite was a guardsman killing a greater daemon in close combat.
It may have been reduced to one wound..but a guardsman actually causing a wound on something so horrible was amazing and my opponents face was priceless when he failed his save!

Last years Ard Boyz:

2nd Game is against a band-wagon Blood Angels player (You know, the one with a mixture of Grey Knights and Ultra Marines) who is running the Sanguinor, drop marines and a couple of storm ravens with some Furioso's attached to them.

Figuring I'd see lots of BA I bring the Inquisitor 2x Mystic combo and utterly anhihilate his stuff as it drops close to me. Battle Cannon here, Battle Cannon there, Demolisher canon crushing his Stormraven... It got so bad, that he didn't deep strike his second Stormraven and said "I meant to say it was going to fly in from the table edge."

Of all that, I suppose the greatest moment was when my Inquisitor smote the mighty Sanguinor with his 2 attacks (Having lost some to the Sanguinor's garbage) and his ability to Slay Outright any model. Suck it cheese!

A few years ago I played in the "Rolling Thunder" game at my local GW. Took a dreadnaught as my entry. Late in the game I ended up killing a Tau Pirana in CC after having all my weapons destroyed and him moving flat out in his turn. He was cocky and didn't think I could possible hurt him so he ventured a touch to close. Turns out a head butt from a dread is enough to make me smile.

Grr and stuff...

two great moments.

the first. 'ard boys playing my IG going against chaos marines. My master of the ordnance hit a vehicle every turn. i took the guys 4 rhinos/razor backs and one of his three razorbacks out in the first turn with my massed long range guns. three LRBT (squaded), demolisher, three basilisks (squaded).

second. moving then assaulting with my armoured sentinel into my opponents furioso dread. he looked puzzled, until i told him it was front armour 12. that dread was drop podded in first turn, and they were ther until the end of the six rounds. it was great.

I have quite a few actually.

Vulkan and 5 Thunder Hammer Termies surviving two rounds of shooting from 10 sternguard with Lysander attached and not loosing a single man or wound on vulkan. They then proceed to slaughter the sternguard and Lysander in one turn.

A 20 man platoon who is issued frfsrf, and pump out 48 shots, and kills a 10 man squad of bloodletters with the skulltaker attached.

A squad of IG veterans with shotguns and a couple meltas thats shoot at, and then assault, and win in combat against the exact same squad of bloodletters from the above.

A platoon squad with 2 guardsmen left and the almighty Lord Commissar Von Humps attached charge a daemon prince of khorne at max wounds, and win.

When Lord Commissar Von Humps, the only survivor after a round of tau shooting, slays a 12 man FW squad in assault(isn't saying much but im getting this epic image of the platoon charging up the ramp and getting gunned down while the Commissar pushes on and gets all powerfisty with them .

Mine has to be in the previous edition of 40k - when the all on your own tests needed to be made when 1 member of a squad was left.

It was when I first got back into 40k after a long break and was playing my Eldar vs Tau. All that was left on 1 sude of the board was my dire avenger Exarch and my opponents Ethereal.

Ethereal decided to turn and run Benny Hill style away from my exarch (no shame) so I chased him for 3 turns until the ethereal was in the corner of the board, so had no-where to go. Then I failed my All on your own test and ran off myself leaving a waving Ethereal to gloat.

Never forgave him for that

I have a new one from a game I played today. Havent used tyranids in literally 3 years. So wheeled out the new codex and played my mates space wolves.

I had a lone Genestealer and a lictor on one wound. So I decided what the heck and charged my friends CC terminators + leader.

The Lictor/Genestealer managed to kill 4 terminators. But what was classic is only 1 died to rending. the other 3 died as my mate rolled 3 1's >.<

Another favourite

A guy i played against right after the Blood Angels codex dropped was smacktalking my Necrons (like they really need it ) and telling me how he could tear my army a new one. His army was built on assault troops and death company, with some terminators in a LR as a holepunch for the tougher stuff.

He manages to get a charge in on a necron warrior unit, which predictably goes POOF and vanishes, and then spots this tall, skinny looking metal ghost standing behind them, dressed in robes, carrying a scythe..

He charges the Nightbringer with both units of assault marines and his terminators come piling out of their Landraider to join the fun.

I'll never forget his face

'My guys have lightning claws to shred you like a cuisinart, and strength four! My 2+ save will shrug anything you can throw, and they have an invulnerable too! My Assault marines have dozens of attacks, so unless that ghost has infinite wounds you're going to be hurting bad!

What's this skinny drink of water's toughness anyway?

Me: 8

Him: No, seriously, what's his toughness?? He's not a Wraithlord

Me: Hands him codex, and then watches as he realizes that nothing he brought to the fight can hurt Nightbringer, that they're all locked in combat with him, and that he ignores all saves

To be fair the guy was fairly new to 40k, and believed the net-hype that Necrons are utterly weak anf that Blood Angels can ream anything in close combat, but he deserved it
