Got this mail a couple hours ago from Maelstromgames.co.uk

Shipping is free on orders above 10 GBP, meaning on most of the stuff GW sells us. Might be worth checking out for some of you people. Company's legit, however it takes some time to get yoru order packed and shipped, usually.

Hi there,

It's Easter, so it is, and thus our traditional Maelstrom Games (www.maelstromgames.co.uk) Easter Sale starts now - but this year we're giving you a cracking 16% off UK RRP voucher to ensure you can save more money for your easter eggs and, shock, easter holiday than ever before!

YOUR HAPPY EASTER 2011 VOUCHER
----------------------------------------------------------
Your 16% off UK RRP discount voucher ends on Monday the 2nd of May 2011 at midnight (GMT) and it's a great chance to grab yourself all those cracking ranges we've brought in over the past few months as well as all those lovely BaneBeasts and BaneLords we've created over the past year. With Dark Age, Nemesis, Eden, Forged in Battle, Tale of War Miniatures, Enigma, Micro Art Studio and many others, you really do have some superb miniatures and hobby products to spend your hard-earned on!

Please note that this voucher will work on all the items within our webstore, but:

- not on any Seeds of War items
- not on any Too Fat Lardies items
- not on any Games Workshop Direct items
- not on any event tickets
- and additionally, not on anything within our eBay store.

Apart from the above, the voucher will work on pre-orders and, crucially, you'll still earn Moneyback - although tiered discounts are disabled when using a voucher of course.

Your voucher code is: EASTER-2011

To use this voucher simply register on the webstore, www.maelstromgames.co.uk (if you haven't already), copy and paste the code into the appropriate field in your basket when you have selected the items you want, press 'REDEEM', and the webstore will do the rest. You are not limited to one purchase and, indeed, we would ask you to recommend us to your friends with this voucher!

Remember though that this voucher is intended for the webstore only - it does not apply to any of our auctions or shop inventory items on eBay.

Happy Ordering!

Their prices are already 10-15% off in most cases. The extra to make it up to 16% probably wouldn't have made a huge difference. Still, every little bit counts, I guess.

I'm pretty sure this discount is off the 10-15% discounted prices. Making it a total discount from RRP of 24-29%.

EDIT: Scratch that, you're right. It's a flat 16% off RRP, so if the standard is discounted 15% not a huge change.

The standard Maelstrom discount is 10%, so this is quite an improvement.

I always wait for these kind of sales when ordering from maelstrom (I order from them exclusively). They occur 4-6 times a year, if I recall correctly.

After ages I decided to cave in and use them again, especially after Miniature Market started charging over 50 bucks for shipping. Here's hoping that Maelstrom is faster than FFG's own snail mail.

edit.

I'm pretty sure that we'll get an extension of the dead-line due to royal weddings and the finding of eggs or some other excuse.

Sorry to hear that man. I also wanted to place a order a couple weeks ago but I assumed they would release some kind of voucher either after salute or during Easter so I waited.

The standard discount is 10%, and this voucher is a non-cumulative one, meaning that you will get a total of 16% off the RPP (6% more of a discount than if no voucher is used)

Sorry for any confusion caused. 30% discount would be awesome, though

Incorrect.

I have purchased both VGC and VMC 72 paint sets through Maelstrom and never encountered customs.

So just because you have never had to pay customs that means no one else on earth will have too?
Where I live they randomly select parcels from foreign countries and send you a note to declare them. I've never had to pay customs either but they do try damn hard to have me pay it.

Maybe i'm confusing users, sorry for that.
But wasnt you the fella that was blaming Maelstorm for a huge delay of a order of vallejos paint sets and you also reported one of the paints was opened and spilled? Thats ussually customs procedures ( opening a paint to check and closing it badly).
Either way was just a friendly reminder that paints are like magnets to customs.

No confusion, that was me.

The package arrived intact and there was no evidence of it being opened.

Would Customs open it, then re-seal it so it never looked to be opened?

There were no accompanying letters either.

Also, one paint was completely DRY, another 2 were missing entirely.

If Customs did not notify me, and the package was not opened, then the only other culprit would be Maelstrom.

My complaint was that instead of replacing the paints, they simply gave me a CashBack credit on their site.

Me too. Where I live, I now have some idea what it was like living during the height of the Iron Curtain. Packages arrive weeks or sometimes months late, you get taxed massively on anything that isn't a soiled pair of underwear, and have to fully explain practically everything that's contained (which is fun when it's not in your native language) it's like a constant game of cat and mouse. Makes me appreciate how lax they are in Europe for the most part, that's for sure

I get hit by customs all the time. Always makes me think twice when ordering cheap deals over seas or even from USA.

it always bites me.

Once i was hit with major fee when the customs misread the decimals on the declaration form by three digits.

Customs only hit me once, recently on a Hobby Link Japan order, forcing me to pay twice the price I paid for the two model kits in taxes.
