As far as I can remember he was just a daemon without being related to a specific God. Later on the Daemons are described in ways that you can tell which form they take such as Nurgle or Slaanesh. There is a bit about him on Lexicanum but I think it just reviews the events in Horus Rising.

it was an unaligned Deamon.
Lesser deamons are always aligned with one god or another as they are simply extensions of their god.
but greater deamons can be seperate entities. similer to how there are many Lesser Chaos Gods, like Malal.
these Deamons are often older then the Chaos gods themselves, being minor entities that coelesced in the same manner as the 4 main gods, but they were the creation of minor Sentient cultures while the 4 main gods were the creation of common ideas/emptions that all sentient races would have in common.
unaligned Deamons would be the product of a small star spanning empire, or a densly populated planet, that had a certain religion. this common belife would then rresult in the belife becoming real.

Likely just a Daemon created by the population of False Earth. It was un-aligned and probably used the planet as its own private empire. The fortress was just situated where the barrier between the material and imaterial universes, and when Jubal came with a chink in his apparently solid Astartes armour, which allowed Samus to posses him. From that we an take that it was a fairly powerful entity able to forcibly posses an Astartes.

Indeed, Samus seems to have been a moderately powerful daemon. Not a Prince, as they're humans who have ascended, and I don't think a Greater Daemon as they tend to be powerful enough to create their own form without having to possess one.
There are daemons unaffiliated with any of the main for Ruinous Powers, there are those that work on their own plans. For Chaos truly is chaotic...

not all Deamon Princes are human.
a better definition is that they are ascended mortals. you could have a deamon prince from any race.

Samus is a power armoured bounty hunter, that comes from the well known Nintendo video game series called "Metroid". Also Samus is not a guy.

If by always you mean NOT always.
Furies aren't aligned to any god, they're strictly Undivided Lesser Daemons.

true,
but they are a special case.
Furies are mortals that never aligned themselves with one particular god. upon death, the 4 gods turn them into furies as a punshment for not picking one or the other.
