Hello everyone, and welcome to this thread.

About 12 years ago, in France, a small gaming company called Rackham was created. Its purpose was to produce and sell a new skirmish game based on the following principle: no expensive box set, no army book, just models blisters including everything you needed to play: a reference card and a booklet smaller than your palm. Imagine that with three or four blisters you had enough to play. By this time we had no alternative to GW products and these new models were cheaper and looked far better than GWs one (which was turning to ugly plastic models).

It worked well and the company grew. It started to sell abroad, first in Europe, then on the US market.
A second edition was released. A Space-Hulk like board game was developed (Hybrid). Tournaments were played everywhere in France, and a national event was organised every year. A national gamers association was created ( the Conf'federation of the Red Dragon)

The models sculpture improved with time. A WHFB scale wargame was released, along with a magazine.

Finally with the third edition, a complete rulebook was released followed by a great campaign system.

But with time, for financial reasons, the company was sold and it was the begining of the end for Rackham. The new owners turned to pre-painted plastic crap but the customers didn't follow.

Finally, Rackham, the Big Red Dragon, slowly died.

The purpose of this thread is to act as a memorial of Rackham's metal models because these models were really great.

Everyone can participate, it's not a painting challenge. So, feel free to post pics of your painted Confrontation models and to tell us of your army.

Here are some of mine (sorry for the poor quality of the paintjob, most of these were painted a looong time ago):

Please, join this thread and show your Confrontation models.

It was a sad day , and a frantic buy up, when I heard that Rackham metals would be no more.
I endeavored to get my hands on all things Dwarves from their line. I only have a handful painted, but they are by far the most enjoyable figs to paint that I own.
Fortunately my LGS still has a pretty active C3 community, so they do actually see play time occasionally.

Too true shingouki. I didn't know they had been bought out/sold. They had some amazing models. I missed my shot to get a serious collection going, to my chagrin.

I did get a couple models. I'll post them here when I get them painted.

Just to point out: The switch to plastic had nothing to do with being bought out(which came after, not before). It was Jean Bey's decision to switch to PPP. So the same person responsible for the metals was also responsible for the plastics.

Source: JB himself.

Your stuff looks good.

Lucky for me, one of the stores here still has a good assortment of the metals.
