OK, after prowling PHDs (http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/309038.page) and Baiyuans http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/345040.page P&M blogs plus seeing my dear friend Q0rbin (http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/236240.page) finishing his Necromunda gang (and seeing all other great Necromunda gangs and other Necromunda related stuff out there! Great work everyone!) it suddenly felt like it's time to get a move on with all my vacant Necromunda projects.

I have two main gangs, Scavvies (which I've played since like 95-97) and Orlocks (which I started playing like two years ago). Orlocks was actually my first gang (since they came with the box), but I sold the original gang after I bought what was going to be my long time Scavvie gang from a friend.

But as if that weren't enough, I've also got Goliaths, Cawdor, Delaque and Ratskin Renegades (plus an unfinished SW army, an Khador force, and my studies in Social Work that's killing me atm)... Now, I don't have any illusions about finishing all this work anytime soon, but what I'm trying to say is that progress might(/will) be slow...

Anyhow, enough whining, I'll start with my Scavvies. I will use the original minis since I really like them and I already got them, I might invest in some of GWs plastic kits as well and bashing them in an attempt to create something similar to the stunning works of PHD (link above) and Shockwave (http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/312901.page).

I did take some pictures of my recent works on my scavvies today but haven't retouched them yet so they will have to wait until tomorrow, I do however got some old WIP pictures of my Orlocks and my to be Delaque leader for you to watch in the meantime!

Ah, yes. Necromunda. I like the Gs work here, and the photo quality is nice.

If I had a dollar for every dollar I spent I'd have all my money back.

Thanks Brotheralexos and ah, yes Necromunda indeed!

So today I actually have some pictures of my scavvies! I will try to get some more done later today as well but we'll see!

First I'd like to explain my agenda with these. What I like with scavvies is this hillbilly-horror-ish look they got going (Hills Have Eyes, Devils Rejects, Texas Chainsaw massacre and so on) which is totally awesome! Not only do I love b(/c/...)-horror but I have this love-hate relationship to hillbillies, which is easy to get if you grow up on an, in some aspects, close to lawless island with a population of about 500 without permanent land connection (you'll have to go by a ferry)! So I will try to emphasize this hillbilly-horror-ish look a little more, but not going over the top (as I like the minis the way they are), plus throwing a small pinch of pirate references in the mix where it suits!

If, you have any suggestions or pointers, please feel free, and you don't have to be gentle about it!

So, this is Sir Long John Silver & Mr Bob, I'll have to warn you, I have a bad imagination when it comes to names, but he does have a peg leg so... And Mr Bob is a reference to the tree growing out of Harolds head in Fallout 2. I wanted to give these guys a kind of sluggish yet vicious and vigilant appearance, as if they just heard a noise and suspect it could be some fresh human meat walking around. Though they might not know how to combine a nut and a bolt, few hunts down a prey with the same excitement and precision... (and if you wonder why the eye-patch just look at the top pics)

This is Mr Krueger, he used to have a claw where he now got tentacles (hence the name). I might give him some primitive armor (odd bits of metal and what not roughly put togehter) but haven't figured out what it would look like... Any advice are welcome! And I'm toying withe the idea of giving him a hat or something similar.

Say hello to Frank. Not much to say, eyestalks, he is going to hugg cover and throw away an occasional pot shot, covering his comrades advance, sometimes even hitting something(!).

And lastly, Fred, he used to have a blunderbuss (which I never used and probably never will use) but needed a guy with an autogun instead!

Please feel free to leave comments and critique!

Really nice conversion of the autopistol/chainsword Escher in the group shot. Something I might well attempt to emulate at some stage!

Thanks Molotov! It's a quite easy job, you just cut the arm at the shoulder and by wrist (if I remember things right) and then pin and reposition and throw some GS in the gaps!

Ah, I meant this model - giving her the GS jacket and covering her modesty somewhat has made the model look very different, and it's something I'm going to think about with my Eschers (and/or INQ28 models!)

Hehe, ok I see. I found the tank top to be a bit tricky, but then I've never sculpted fabric before when I did that. But having browsed trough your INQ28 P&M blog I can tell that won't be a problem for you, nice work btw!

But yeah, I was really pleased with the result, it really did change her appearance without any major interventions. I guess that's a little bit of a modeling motto of mine, to accomplish as much change as possible with as few means as possible.

Wow great work , and nice links to shockwaves blog too. i hadnt seen that one before. They all look really good , but if i had to choose ONE as my favourite i would opt for the twin tentacle , and custom club . very clever indeed , followed by the high haired early 90's brat style juve and , the eyestalks is just epic.

Excellent work. I just started back on a similar vein of thought, working on a Cultist force with Necromunda and RT / early 2nd Ed in mind. Always enjoy seeing the visions other people have, especially of the old Necromunda models. Will likely always be my favorite game that GW released.

Hi and thanks for the kind words everyone!

neil101 - That's one of my favourites as well though I lean a little bit more to Sir Long John Silver & Mr Bob (the two head guy), Mr Krueger looks a little bit plain atm which I hope I can do something about, I just don't know what to do really.

Skalk Bloodaxe - GW keeps getting better and better on making minis but there sure are something about these old minis that their new stuff lack. And yes Necromunda is probably the best game they released!

OK, so I managed to get some done yesterday and today and are quite close to the end with these guys. By the way I need some inspiration for an armor worthy a mutated scavenger, I picture something made out of junk which usefulness is questionable at best. I have browsed countless of sites for countless of hours and I still can't I figure out how to do it, or how it should look like. So anyone with an idea are more than welcome to share it!

You might not see much difference from the pics above but on Sir Long John Silver & Mr Bob I've GSed the second neck and the front of the cape. Whats left to do is the left hand in which he should be holding another autopistol, do the rest of the eye patch strap, some minor work on the necks and then its time to tidy up and paint.

On Mr Krueger I've finished the arm and the sleeve. Whats left to do is Scavviefying the hand and arm (some warts, bandage or the like) and I want to give him some scavaged armour of some sort but I don't know what It would look like atm, any suggestions would be awsome!

I will need a couple more than these than I have so pressmold ftw!

Nice Orlock gang...you GS skills are great.

As for the scavvies....I love the telescope...its just mad.

The mutant with tentacles...you sculpted his other arm too...I'm very impressed.

The basic weapons you've built look nice and scavenged too.

I hope we see some paint this time around

Fantastic creativity and production! Not enough people use the original GW scavvies - I really like em too

Adding praise on praise here, but I really like what you did with the eschers - simple changes (though the GS top looks really impressive) that really change the feel of the model. Thanks for the inspiration!

Your conversions are so perfect and really bring out the feel that I will always associate w/ Necromunda. I think the time I had assigned to "painting" this weekend might get eaten up with some new "converting". I'm feeling inspired.

This thread is 100% win!

Again thanks everyone for all the feedback!

PHD - I'm actually quite impressed myself, I believe it's my most advanced work this far and it was really fun to push my boundaries a little bit!

Scraper - I can't see why more people doesn't use the original scavvies!? I would even go so far as to say that those are some of the most well done minis in the Necromunda range!

Skalk Bloodaxe - I almost always start to look through the 1st ed Necromunda and 2nd ed 40k rulebooks in search for inspiration since I like to stay close to the original stuff, so your feedback feels reassuring!

neil101 - Thanks, though the autopistols in the mold-picture are the original metal ones. The picture shows the first step in the mold making process, but I'll post a picture of a finished pistol as soon as I've got some more work done!

OK, I don't have anything new to show today. I've pressmolded some autopistols and are almost done with John long silver & mr Bobs left hand (this time I got lazy and used a ghoul-hand instead). But I have now decided how mr Kruegers armor should look like, the breast plate will be made out of a hub-cap, the back-plate of a sauce pan lid, and the shoulder pads will be made out of tiers and corrugated iron... Any thoughts?

I think your armor idea is excellent, and I'm starting to wonder if you and I aren't slowly starting a "hive mind" (the "hive" being Hive Primus of course) becasue this morning on the way to work I started thinking about Judge Dredd (which was an inspiration for the original Confrontation game that evolved into Necromunda later on) and how I wanted to make some more colorful characters for my Cult like the Garbage King.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Skalk Bloodaxe - I have no idea what you mean (damn he is on to me..)! I sometimes feel I should have read more Judge Dread when I was younger, its fairly obvious that its been a major source of inspiration. I believe the armor idea will work, I'm exited about doing it but my studies and my mother in law (who is visiting) demands my attention atm

Knighteley - Thanks, though I'm not too hot with the brush I'm afraid. But I'll do my best!

Hi!

Time for a small update! I haven't had much time to spend on my minis lately since my studies demand most of my time for at the moment. This might be my last post until fall or the end of the summer since I'll be working in my home town from the end of the semester (two-three weeks from now) until the end of the summer and will probably not bring my sculpting tools. But we'll see.

OK, so back to Necromunda! I've bought some new minis of which some have arrived and have got some minor work done.

First some new meat to the grinder! Here we got two additional scavvies and a plague zombie, the guy in the middle is one of the "confrontation-era"-scavvies (love those) which I gave some Forge World Chaos Renegade arms. Next we have three Goliath Juves, the middle dude missed his laspistol so he got a pressmolded autopistol and the juve to the far right will get his severed laspistol switched to a stub gun/autopistol. And lastly we have some gangers two Goliaths and one Cawdor. I now got all original Goliath gangers and juves and will soon have all Cawdor gangers and juves as well.

Here is some additional pics of the Goliath juve now with the clip attached to the pistol. I had to reconstruct parts of the hand but that might be hard to tell from the photo. As you can see there is some "tidying up" to do on the autopistol (I believe I'll have to make a new mold, but that's a future project) and then he will be good to go!

And last but not least my latest work on Sir Long John Silver & Mr Bob and some additional pics of the confrontation-era scavvie (named Buck)! For Sir Silver & Mr Bob I've got a new hand and weapon (ghoul hand and pressmolded autopistol) and done some GS-work on those! There is still some work to be done on the hand and I'll have to make a clip for the other autopistol and then there is just some finishing touches left to do! Buck got some Chaos renegade arms but I managed to brake both the barrel and the clip so I'm in the process of mending those.

Thats all for now! Please feel free to leave some comments and critique!

The renegade arms are a simple, yet great choice, like they were made for it.
Pity we won't hear from you for a couple of months, that's one necromunda enthusiast less on dakka, quite a loss.
I vote that you take at least some stuff along, maybe some painting equipment, so when you're back all the models you did so far are painted...

My friends and I are looking to use scavvies in some of our skirmishes so I have been keeping my eyes out and ears down in order to get some inspirations, and considered me very much inspired!

Secondly, I dig the GS work you've done on some of your escher gang - especially the drapery on that tank top. top work.

Shame to hear you're checking out, but life is as it is. Take care and all.
