Hello,

For my Kabal, I am planning on painting their armor a majority gold.

However, I would like my wyches to use gold on their armor as well, to "unify" the army.

I am having trouble figuring out a good color to make my wyches "Spandex" (For lack of a better word) suits, so far I have come up with a deep blue, or red.

Any thoughts?

Browns are a natural contrast to gold, also I've seen blue work well with gold if you want to go for that extravaganza route.

I would agree most with red Rev. Are you going for a shining gold, or a dull almost-brass-ish look?

Ah, forgot contrasting colors!

I was going to ask what would be a contrast to it, brown might look good, more of a natural color.

My Kabal is a more rich/extravagant one, so possibly blue may work as a "Show-off" of their wealth.

Going for a Shining Gold, almost mithril looking Raiders, with gold parts. (Hard to show, a WIP thread will be up soon)

Red seems to be going down the route of blue, for showing off wealth!

Thanks for the fast replies guys.

Never seen a Thousand Sons or Ultramarines army? Blue and gold were made for each other.

Most of the primary colors go well, for that matter I personally thing that red, green, black and purple look great with gold.

I rather like how Blue and gold look, seen it in some sort of game before, looked nice, lavish though.

I would be avoiding Silver and Green as they would look silly to have as clothing colrs IMO.

Purple* seems like it may look good, as does red.

I was thinking with sticking to black, you think it would be a good color with Shining Gold?

Purple and Red are both nice as I said before, not sure if I would want purple clothing however.

Agreed

Couldn't post fast enough to quote you Enslaviour!

So far those are the leading candidates I'm thinking more Black or Red!

I'm quite partial to black & gold myself, but I might blame my university for that. Blue, purple, and green all work pretty well too, but my vote has to go for black.

My DIY marines are black with gold trim. They look pretty classy.

Been toying around with the black idea, it would look nice, perhaps I will do a test model with it.

I agree with primarys, purple, green, black...a really clean white can look amazing with gold, but if you are doing a very light gold, borderline silver, then it won't show up well.

Probably staying away from white, although it would look great, when Dark Eldar comes to mind, I don't think of White.

Would look great on marines though!

bdix wrote:Best contast I've ever seen was on a demon army that did a shadow grey with gold

That was actually the first color I thought of, since it is a mix of blue and grey I thought it would look nice, I have seen some warriors painted with their under armor painted shadow gray, and their armor painted gold, they look amazing.

You have to work in the purple Rev. Now that its been suggested, I think it would look awesome.

Dark or midtone purple, All blue colors and greens looks amazing with Gold. Now when I think about it.. pretty much everything looks good with gold except for yellow but those three( Purple, blue and green) are the top three.

Colour wheel theory says that both blue, purple and green will look good next to gold. And as such these colours are associated with royalty, red being another regal colour.

Black goes with anything really.

Browns if they are red based would work very well, but not so much with yellow based browns.

Gold is the metallic version of yellow. Meaning they tend to blend on models a lot and you lose shape etc.

If you already have purple hair, and gold trim, don't go for red. Red and purple, unless they're exactly the right shades, will clash and look horrible together. Royal purple is *the* wealth colour, but if they already have purple hair, then there's little point to colouring their clothes with it as well.

I think a blue-grey will be the best option, If you go for a bright green you could get the "Harlequin" effect of having lots of bright colours on a single model, all trying to grab your attention at once. As you have gold and purple already, you should probably stick to either darker tones of green or blue, (navy could work), or more neutral versions, like black.

What about black as a base coat and instead of highlighting with grey build it up with purple. It worked out great on my old Emperor's Children army.
