If I cheat just to help make the games close, is it still a bad thing?
Heck no. Don't beat yourself up. No problem.
Well, as long as you lose as much as you win, I guess it is ok.
You are just a big cheater.

I have a confession to make. I cheat in games all the time.

I have taken dice and drilled indentions on the 2 side to make it a 5. I keep a few of these dice off to the side for critical rolls.

I often put extra models in units. My list will say 7 but I put 8 or 9 on the table. I often use abilities that I didn't pay for in my list.

Recently, I have figured out how to manipulate Army Builder and change the cost of models. I typically play with 10 to 20 percent more points than my opponent.

I have never been caught to the point that someone thought I was purposely cheating. I always play stupid and appologize and say that I changed my list before the game and got confused. So, I lie all the time too.

(pause here for a second and be open to this next concept)
.
.
.

With all of that said, I don't win very much. I don't play real strong lists. My lists are fluffy.

I cheat in order to make it a closer game. If I was winning all the time, I would power down my list. In fact I do that all the time. If I make a list and pummel a guy with it (playing straight up), I won't use that list again. I have no interest in WAAC. I just want to be competitive.

So basically, I cheat to make it a good game.

If I use these methods as a handicap and I am friendly, fun and a good guy to play with, and my opponent never finds out, and he feels like he had fun and a well played game win or lose.............................

is it still cheating?

So you'd.... power down your list to keep your CHEATING viable?

Doesn't matter if you win, lose or draw its still cheating (For example, throwing a football game. Its still cheating, even though you 'lose')

Of course it's still cheating, you're just not being very good at it.

Anyway, if you can build lists that 'pummel' people why bother cheating? Surely you could play with a weaker army or just use the strong one and play like a moron. You obviously only wish to present the façade of competition or closeness so it shouldn't be an issue that you know you could do better.

Oh, and I'm guessing you've created a new account to forgoe the continuing shame of being branded a dirty cheater, just in case others mistake this thread for an open/frank admission. Anonymous confession is not confession at all.

...yes? The fact that you lose doesn't take away from your attempts at cheating. It just means you are so terrible that even while cheating you lose. Why not try to figure out the game more and have a better strategy instead of cheating?

I hate to jump on the bandwagon, but what you are doing would make me feel dirty.

This is a game; having to cheat in order to make it fun suggests maybe you need a new hobby.

Ever consider that because of all your cheating you are stunting your own growth? We are only as good as our challenges, and if you don't challenge yourself you will never pass the point where you lose most of your games.

I play fluff armies rather then WAAC and lose more then I would like to admit, but I have gotten spades better since I began and even my fluffy armies give a good fight against optimized WAAC lists.

I'm actually intrigued by this thread. Part of me wants to wonder if a MOD had just made an account to see how people would react, and part of me sides with the rest of the reponders thinking that someone with a guilty conscience wants to make an anonymous question on how people feel.

At any rate, I too believe that cheating is still cheating, whether you win or lose. Except when you lose, it's even more well deserved.

Win or defeat, their is nothing to be gained form cheating unless your a WAAC or completely empty inside. I play fulffy lists, by the rules and still win against min/maxed lists. You just need more practice.

I did consider the likelihood of this being a troll thread, it being started by a brand new user is a bit of a give-away.
