Slaanesh Chosen Marine Riding a Fiend

I understand that DE are a bad matchup for Demons. But what if the demons are mono-Slaanesh? They're pretty fast. Or do you have to bring some ranged to have a chance?

Depends on the kind of DE army you're playing against.
People say that daemons are a weak matchup against DE for the same reason that they said they are a poor matchup for IG. Both armies have the capability to bring a lot of vehicles.
But then, so do Space Wolves and Blood angels. Daemons run into trouble against mechanized armies when they don't have a whole lot of anti-tank shooting.

DE have lots of vehicles that need to be brought down
DE have lots of posion that will rip high T models
the initiative 5, 6, or 7+ is a problem but meh its not the reason Daemons have trouble with DE.
as dash said it depends on the kind of DE. a shooty army is rarely going to get into combat while a wych heavy army is iniative 6 the high volume of attacks they put out at low strength might hurt slanesh more than other daemons. incubi are pretty useless against anything but Meq. Wracks and grotesques might be something slaneshi daemons coudl take advantage of.

I disagree with the tongue on soul grinders - BS3 is horrible and S10 AP1 is overkill for DE vehicles, phlegm is much better against dark eldar, S8 is only needing 2's to glance and 3's to pen, also it gives you a large blast template for troops and such.
MSU's of horrors w bolt and Bolt princes will do fine also. Horrors are great against DE troops, a squad of 5 horrors with bolt can unleash 12 strength 4 AP4 warpfire shots and a strength 8 AP1 bolt per turn. They dont get there saves from shooting and if they get slaughtered in combat, you're only loosing 5 troops.
Also Angrath can only be used in a Apoc game - pretty redundant advice.

yeah horros are ok. They can throw out a lot of shots that wound on 3+ and DE are pretty easy to mow down once they are out of their transport until they get FNP.
Against Daemons though Nightshields are a DE players best friend as they can simply out range and outrun anything that doesnt get them in the first round of shooting(after the daemons DS)
Thats another reason Phlem or whatever its called are a good idea. Hope you can get a few raiders with each blast.

+1 attack per roll-to-hit of 6, for as long as you keep getting them. he can destroy ANYTHING in 1 turn.
