So I was watching Firefly this past weekend with my brother, and we where talking about how their technology seems like orks. Slap gak together hit the red button and hope it gets you there. Now I also commented how they are mutated and kind of seem chaos like. Then I had the idea, which has probably been done, but Chaos Orks. I think it would be modeling, getting to chaos orkified technology.

If I did do this, I would run them under CSM codex.
But I was wondering what dakkadakka thought about this idea and see if you guys have some creative input tell help develop my first unit

So that would be... Orks with even more spikes?

I think you should run them under normal Orks stats. Being corrupted by Chaos shouldn't enchant them with the ability to actually shoot something.

old old old fluff had some khornate orks that were rejected by the normal ork society, the old deamonhunter codex has a picture of nurgle orks in it, they have a presence in the warp and they could no doubt be corrupted, HAVE AT!

Theres no real piece of fluff that says they are immune, they're just really resistant (especially since it is very hard for chaos to appeal to orks)

But it still happens. Although I think the ork codex still best represents orks. The BS4 from marines doesnt make too much sense unless where dealing with certain orks

I was thinking of running like chaos ork boys as CSM, chaos ork nobs as chaos termies and mega nobs as obliterators

Are you talking about the reavers?

I agree that the Ork Codex would probably be best, but it's your army so if you want to run them as CSM go for it

Im thinking when i build them I will be methodical and make sure that when i build a squad of "chaorks" boys' they could either be a CSM squad or a boys squad....belegit in both codex's

As Alex said, there used to be Khornate Orks from waaaaay back although it was mentioned that they can only really be affected by Khorne as the Ork society is pretty content as a whole.

That said there's someone here who I've seen do some nice Nurgle Orks.

I would, personally, run it using the Ork codex simply because running one army as a completely different army isn't exactly fair on your opponent plus, as others have said, turning to chaos is unlikely to make them actually be able to shoot straight.

I see a few problems with this CSM idea. For a start they are ranged based, bs 4, so you will need to think of a reason for that. Also what about their power armour? This seem a bit too much an effort when you could just count them as chaos deamons or normal orkz (just with spikes). After all the boy profile is not too much different too the bloodletter profile.
Are you going to make them nurgle or khorne. I don't see why you would want to count them as anything else, cus' we likez fighten AND da colour green, besides maybe undivided, so I guess your going to do one or the other.

In the background the orks almost immune to chaos, see Ere' We Go. Gork and Mork are Stonger even than khorne and are second only to the big E himself (who can keep the chaos gods in the warp all at once from beyond the grave). They said something in the Ere' We Go book about the orkish legend about gork beating up nurgle.

It seems from boss Tuska da deamon killa that orks are immune to the warp and mutation from it.

OMG... Reaver themed Orks would be amazing, regardless of what ruleset you use. If you decide to do this, I want LOTS of pics.

**EDIT**
And as far as Reavers are concerned, I think using the Ork ruleset would match best. You'd absolutely slaughter in melee with your awesome melee converted weapons of choppy/stabby death!

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

You could always explain the increased BS as daemonically posessed weapons interfaced with the Ork's inate psychic potential.

I'm not against the idea of orks so mutated by chaos that they have the combat stats of chaos marines, but to me they'd no longer look like normal orks, and maybe wouldn't be a great match to your original concept.

As others have said, playing them as normal orks seems to fit your concept better, and still fits ork fluff fine, especially if you go for Deffskull Lootas.

So im thinking Im gonna be doing Nurgle possessed orks, under the orks codex.

The plan is to have these reaver inspired chaos orks (chaorks as i like to call them) kit bashed with their equivalent unit in the CSM. Dont worry you wont see any thousand sun orks, or will you!?

For my first project/experiment i will be getting a box of nobs and a box of chaos termies and a slab of green stuff. I will keep you updated, and I might start a Chaorks Blog up too!

I belive I can give you a fluff precedent for "chaorks":
In the Grey knights omnibus, the last one, there are some gladiator orks who do seem to worship Khorne, I don't see any problems with the Orkish mindset and the Khornate way, they live for battle, after all.

I can definitely see orks first succumbing to Chaos and then their orky aggro causing them to disagree on which Chaos power is 'da best' - giving you the perfect excuse for Khorne-themed slugga boyz, Tzeench lootas, Nurgle 'ard boyz etc

There has been cases when the orks have followed chaos, but orks are immune to the normal effects chaos have on them from what I have read.

So reading through this I really liked the idea of making something themed based off the reavers...
And then I figured that IG would be a great conversion for that.
Not knocking your orks, but I think it would be fantastic to see reaperized IG... not sure what ruleset would even be thought of for them though.
