Hello!

This is a converted Bloodthirster I made using the Forgeworld Daemon Prince and parts from the Forgeworld Hive Tyrant. Basically, while I really wanted to use the Daemon Prince as a Bloodthirster, it looked too much like the older version of the Bloodletters (the burly guys, and not the newer, whip-thin Bloodletters.) So, I took a chance and ordered the Hive Tyrant, hoping that the ridged crest on it's head would work for a conversion.

The completed model worked out better than I'd hoped, and looks great when put next to the newer Bloodletters. I just wish it hadn't been quite so nerve-wracking using the Dremel on both Forge World models. It would have been pretty easy to screw them both up.

Probably to make him have a long skull like bloodletters. Looks cool.

The head blends well to make him look more like the Bloodletters, and it's an excellent idea. However, I don't like the wings. Not only are they just giant masses of red, but they're much too Tyranid-ey. A pair of Balrog wings would fit the demonic look much better, in my opinion.

Great paintjob, however, would love to see the rest of this army.

P.S. I think the tail suffers the same Tyranid-ey problem as the wings. Also, most Bloodthirsters don't have tails.

Again, these are just my opinions, and a bit of C&C rather than the various "OMG SO AWESOME" comments I'm sure you'll see alot of for this model.

I think if you made the inside part of the wings a very dark colour it will break up the sea of red. I really like the conversion, I think the bits go together great.

When I planned out this miniature, I completely forgot about the Balrog miniature, and I agree, the Balrog wings would look amazing, if they scale properly. As it was, I really had to look to find wings that would work for such a large miniature, and nothing I could find worked. The Hive Tyrant ended up being the best choice, because the Tyrant and the Daemon Prince figures are fairly close to each other in scale, and because I'd already bought one for the head crest. The fun thing is, I have a second Daemon Prince. I may just grab the Balrog figure and see what I can do with it, so thank you for the advice!

I painted the entire miniature red because I'm not a big fan of two-toning skin/wings, and I really wanted the Bloodthirster to be blood red from head to toe. I did do a better job of highlighting and shading on the wings than it looks, but between the Testor's Dullcote coming out of the can as a semi-gloss, and the flash of the camera, it didn't pick up well.

Agree on contrasting the wings a bit more. However, that is one brilliant conversion idea, and very well executed. I like it a lot. Great work.

Pet Owner Not Bothering To Neuter Loser Cat
July 13, 2009 | Issue 45•29

CORAL SPRINGS, FL—Mike Oakland, 29, told reporters Monday he is not about to pay $100 to have his 5-month-old cat, Mowgli, neutered, because he has no expectations that the dull, paunchy tabby will ever get laid.

Mowgli
"For all he's going to use those balls, he might as well keep them," said Oakland, adding that he'd bet anyone any amount of money that the striped kitten will die a virgin. "He never leaves the house, and I've seen how the neighbor cat looks at him. Completely platonic." When reached for comment, a spokesperson from the Florida Humane Society reiterated that it's important to have all pets spayed or neutered, even ugly lame-o's who probably couldn't score in a roomful of calicos in heat.
