I hate Lightning Claws. I really do. Wolverine sucks. I don't like my Marines to look like him. Unfortunately, they're damn good weapons.

So, what I need is some ideas on how to do at least one counts-as Lightning Claw. I could just slap a power sword on my marshal, explain what the deal is to my opponents, and call it a day, but it feels a little cheesy. I was thinking of possibly a morning star or something along those lines, but I'm hoping someone has a better/similar idea.

I disagree with the OP. Wolverine is cool. If I could, on my space marines I'd like Wolverines on my Wolverine so i can Wolverine while I Wolverine.

haha j/k

The assassins' creed type blade or some sort of 'punch' blade type thing would be cool. i was thinking about doing that for a relic blade on a sergeant.

Wolverine is cool.

Maybe something more along the lines of a double sided knife?

Go for the Chaos look, replace the fingers/most of the fingers with proper blades instea dof the bladed brass-knuckles look the loyalist ones have.

Have a look at the powerfist for my Oblit, made usinga loyalist powerfist and some knivess from the new Skaven Clanrat set:

Probably work

Assuming you're not playing GK, maybe power falchions? This is assuming you can keep them from looking like power weapons.

Mace is not a good idea, because a mace can be used as an alternate thunder hammer / crozius etc. Punch daggers might be one way to go, but I'm almost wondering if it mightn't do to play on the words, and make LIGHTNING claws? Have a couple of power conduits sticking out arcing with lightning in between? Depending on your chapters flavor, you could actually shape it like an ainmals paw as well, and instead of wolverine claws, just a couple of talons sticking out at the end. Alternatively, and this is the expensive option, just get the chaos lightning claws (or make them yourself) as these dont look like woverine and seem more appealing anyway.

How about a 'Glaive' (The Blade/Krull version)? You could say it can either be thrown or activated while held for a spinning Buzzsaw of destruction.

You could obtain the falchions from the GK boxes. I think that would be an acceptable alternative as long as all LC's in the army are represented that way.

Forgive the self high five but i think the spinning 'Wingstick' (will try another name, seems 'glaive' confused :( ) is too good an idea to pass up, if anything it is the closest alternative (unless Chaos ones are prefered).

If the OP doesnt take it i will....

I did that on a unit of assault marines I had once. They counted as power weapons but still looked like they could be lightning claws. Just a powerfist with a sword blade mounted on them.

Agreed!! Wolverine is a twonker.

Although i despise Assassins creed the wrist mounted blades is a good idea. Another alternative along the same lines would be the predator mounted wrist blades.

So I really just suggested the same thing under a different name.

EDIT: That Fire warrior/marine/ hybrid thing is damn cool looking!

Maybe just have loads of knives and spikes line the gauntlets, and just say that he attacks by flailing his arms?

Might be too chaos-y though.

Something to think about as well. Why are lightning claws power weapons that reroll to wound? Or have a higher chance to wound?

Picture a sword with two blades parallel to eachother, and the wound it would create. Two lacerations that close together is a nightmare to stitch/heal/ignore. Now picture 4 or 5 blades like so, ergo lightning claw.

Make something menacing, like a spiked morningstar, or add spikes to power fists. Something that looks like it shreds or tears.

I've made them out of the chain flails from chaos marauders. They looked pretty decent and the whole 'if the first weapon misses the second one might hit' aspect of lightning claws was preserved.

Is it sad that I could identify that that's Leader Class Bulkhead by the hand alone?

what about chain mounted hooks? Like a short grappling hook/claw, except the hooks a parallel to each other. It easily passes for WYSIWYG, but isn't so close to Wolverine.

No more sad, than the fact that the first thing that came to mind when the read the OP's message was 'Wolverine only has 3 claws per hand, but Ultimate X-men Sabretooth have 4 claws per hand.'

Alternative to L-Claws. you want a weapon in each hand to make it easy to see and still be kind of WYSIWYG.

Lightning claws always struck me as a weapon that would eb used by someone who obviously favours H2H combat. So i would think they would also favour a faster weapons than an axe or sword.

Maybe something like reverse gripped dual short swords. OR something like this on each fist

Or maybe dual forearm blades like (an i knwo you wont like this either) DeadPool in the Wolverine movie

you know what? could we have some help here maybe? Are we dealing with power armor or terminator armor? From here I think we have a better directed advice.
