I'm just staring to get into Firestorm Armada and am wondering what people do for their tables. How big are they? what they made from? I've looked at a few ideas from getting a printed mat (expensive) to buying some cheap space print carpet (too cheap looking for me). Even looked at using wall paper, or even printing a background on A3 and taping it down on some MDF.
So, if anyone has them, what did you do? Show a picture and how it was made.
Here's hoping for some inspiration

I've seen a few people who use black cloth and some different coloured paint/spray paint to create galaxy/star patterns. It can look quite cool.
Black cloth can be really cheap if you don't mind getting rough stuff (not like you are going to be rolling around on it is it? ).
Plus if you keep the paint layers light you can roll and even fold up the cloth.

Here is a tutorial on the method I've used to make a couple of MDF tables:
http://www.andysrandomstuff.com/bfg/articles/gameboard/
I prefer the 2X4 pieces for portability, but you could easily use this method for a full 4x6 or larger table. I have also procured a piece of black felt (it was #12 US for a 5'x10' piece) to make a couple of custom mats, but I haven't gotten around to that yet!

Our club used black cloth and spray painted/painted dots and galaxies all over it. You see some of it in my old club's photos in this thread: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/351840.page
The size of table we use is whatever we can scrounge up or want to play. The club table was 5' wide and nearly 10' feet long, so we'd often use the whole thing.

But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk? |
