Hey guys I had an other go at making an animated video battle report. This time my Orks were facing the dreaded Grey Knights in a 1000 point game.

Warhammer 40 Battle Report - Grey Knights Vs Orks

As always I would love some feedback on the things I did right and wrong tactically as well as feedback on the video itself.

Thanx in advance, Tactica

I like it, as always.

I don't know orks very well, so I can't really talk about tactical advices.
I thought "Uho... burnt meat" when I saw that you decided to assault the Purifier squad with 2 boys squads. But you managed to win, thanks to power klaws

And also, is it me, or each game you play always ends with a very bad roll for you ?

Great video, very easy to watch and follow. Enjoyed the suspense at the end too!

Only feedback I can give is that the music was extremely quiet, had to have my volume turned way up, but that's no big deal.

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

My initial thoughts on watching the beginning was "Do you guys play 40k?"

Extra Armour on a Dreadnought with Fortitude doesn't make sense. Grey Knights giving the first turn to Mechanized Orks doesn't make sense. Orks who are going first then rolling to seize the initiative on themselves...and winning...also doesn't make sense.

I stopped there.

Did you reroll your terrain test on that BW that got stuck? The reason I ask, is a deffrolla lets you reroll terrain tests, and rolling 2 1s is pretty unlikely.

Otherwise I thought it was a cool battle rep. I would of tired for more cover, and shot those purifiers another turn before assaulting them.

Yeah I roller a '1' twice in a row. Thats the second time one of my Deff Rolla waggons has bee imobalised in this way in only four games. But hey gak happens I guess.

As for the Grey Knights, why are people saying they are so tough? I'm quite new to 5thed 40k and I know I made a lot of mistakes in this game, but in the end I think I was unlucky not to get the win against them. So what is so special about the Grey Knights?

Apologies for blatantly double posting, I would not normally do this but must confess to having skim read this thread last time I posted and did not notice the point raised by "Dash of Pepper" and wanted to respond.

Firstly I do apologies for any inconsistencies in the battle report. I am relatively new to 5thed 40k, and wrote the report a few days after the actually battle, as such there are one or two bits and pieces that are wrong such as weather or not the Grey Knights had extra armor on their vehicles.

Secondly its a real shame you did not watch the whole battle as you missed a thrilling game that most people seemed to have enjoyed.

Good enough to watch. Keep the reports going.

Adam's Motto: Paint, Create, Play, but above all, have fun. -and for something silly below-

"We are the Ultramodrines, And We Shall Fear No Trolls. bear this USR with pride".

Also, how does one apply to be a member of the Ultramodrines? Are harsh trials involved, ones that would test my faith as a wargamer and resolve as a geek?

You must recite every rule of Dakka Dakka. BACKWARDS.

I saw a few things wrong with the tactics used... at 6:19 of the film it said they disembarked and charged it, do you mean fired in the shooting phase or assaulted it? because technically, if it was for assaulting then that was an illegal move as they can ot disembark and assault on the same turn from a non-assault vehicle. I am just making sure ya know whats up.

In the hands of a capable player, Grey Knights are walking tanks. It's like facing an army of mini-leman russes, with psychic power.

That's also their weakness, tarpits do wonders against small isolated GK squads.
