Dude. I have it for my PC, I just needed it for my Mac. And now that it's here, it's time for awesomeness with the pyro.

The controls are very similar, though Unreal Tournament is a lot more fast-paced than TF2.

Basically, it's one big game of capture the flag, wherein you pick a role that you enjoy (spies dress up as enemies, engineers build turrets, medics heal people, etc.). It's a much more team-based affair than UT, but you can still be fairly effective by yourself, and it's surprisingly easy to pick up and play without too steep of a learning curve.

My best advice is to play it for a bit; it won't be too hard to get the hang of.

I loved it, plus the charcters really match a lot of playing styles plus the chracters can be chaged to make a character fill a totally diffrent role.
plus it's full of humor and a nice community.(so far)

Very true about the Noobs, although it's more a lack of insight.
it's not shooting skill(although it helps a lot) but team work and common understanding of your role in the team that makes a good team and many people fail to see that.

after all it's teamwork that makes a team, a.k.a. good support by medic(s), engineers that actually put up teleporters and turrets in a smart position, etc

Just start with Soldier or Medic. They're both pretty easy to pick up.

really, all the pyros just give a false sense of security, very few new players spy check to begin with until you have been harassing their team for half the game.

In your base, ignoring your logic.

I've been playing on the practice things first, don't want to go out into the game and have people yelling "Noob GTFO the server!" at me. So far I'm decent at sniping and being a medic, but the number of 'fail snipers' online makes me question being a sniper online.

Been trying to find matches for beginners as well because I don't want to get massacred. I play the PS3 version so this is an entirely new game to me.

Snipers are really only good on offense if you need to eliminate enemy snipers/heavies/medics and break out.
Sniping in TF2 is very easy to rack up some kills, but difficult to actually help your team properly.
