Hey guys! I was just looking at some IG hydras and then suddenly this question came to my mind.

Can you make a Hydra with Punishercannons? I mean legaly for a game.

Or do you have to "pretend" they're autocannons or something? ;D

legal or not I think i'm gonna try that conversion I'm not even playing so it doesn't really matter anyways xD

I always treated my models this way:
Is it allowed to have weapon X? No? Then weapon X, which does not appear on the relevant army list entry, is in fact weapon Y, which IS the most basic weapon on the army list entry.

Just be sure to twin them up to avoid confusion. It would definately look nifty.

The punishers look super awesome my friend built 3 soooooo sick looking he uses them as punishers is apoc but in a normal game he uses them as what they are supposed to be but sick models.

That sounds like it would be kinda expensive to make.
for that kind of possible cost, why not just buy the Hydra kit?

You should be able to get the punisher barrel from a bitz store on line. Or find a friend who plays IG but isn't using the punisher.

Sounds cool to me. Yeah, use two barrels, to better represent the twin-linked weapon.

You'll need some kind of backing/mounting for the punisher barrels anyway - so just make the back part big and long enough so that the overall weapon looks like a multibarreled autocannon.

You're probably going to have to design a custom turret for this - be sure to design it and the gun mountings at the same time.

I was also thinking of using the vulture kit punishers for it. tho that will cost me alot :S

Anther idea is to just put the punishers side by side with the autocanons that already are mounted ;D so 4 autocanons and 4 punishers! xD

I think 4 punishers might be a bit OTT. Also unless you're an ork there is such a thing as too much dakka

Also if you're after some inspidration check out the old M113 Vulcan AA vehicle the US used to (maybe still) run.

Yeah some AA tanks worked because of the sheer amount of lead they threw out instead of flak.

I'm putting 6 lascanons, 2 heavy bolters (wingmounted. not the ones that are inside), 1 punisher canon, 2 roket pods and finally those 2 bigass rockets that also come with the kit on it. ^^,

Too much dakka? There can never be too much dakka! ;D
