As I wrote on another topic, I started an iron warrior army about three years ago. I notice now, as I decide to continue on it, that my painting ability has evolved during the time i didn't work on them, and so I will repaint some models in it (mainly usual CSM). Since I never made a blog about them, I will now make one as I continue on and remake the force, so here goes - first some models I am actually satisfied with:

A terminator sergeant, with magnetized icon:

And three other guys (I have three more terms unpainted too):

Note that the reason I haven't based them, is because I first made ugly bases for them and then decided to change them. So you know, they will get based (not sure how though).

Then here's a rhino, will be ridden by usual IW:s.

I am working on a Daemon Prince and a Chaos Lord (in fact the same guy, but in two different shapes), and I will also get Berzerkers.
Thoughts?

A nice metallic effect without being too shiny. Nice one. If I had to ciriticze it would be to point out that the Rhino smoke lanchers should really be pointing upward at least slightly

I, too, like the metal color!

Have you ever tried masking when you're doing your hazard stripes? They look a little uneven on the rhino.

When will we get to see your DP and lord?

Keep up the good work!

@Flinty - Maybe so, I'll see if I can do it without ruining it completely.

@InventionThirteen + brother_camael - That's nice to hear.

@Rawson - I suppose I have considered masking, however i wonder if it wouldn't be too hard when the masking would be so thin, but perhaps I'm wrong? In any case I'll try to improve the stripes.

The prince is quite likely to be seen soon, I am nearly finished withthe conversion. It is just the legs that is missing (anyone have any ideas of good mechanical legs?). The lord is more of a problem - this is how he looks at the moment:

I seriously can't come up with what head he should have. Usual Chaos termi head? Termi head with bionic implants (like the Iron hands termis that won golden daemon)? Zhufor's head? Tyberos' head?

In any case, I just bought berzerkers. Time to go converting them.

Here's my defiler/knight titan I made a while ago:

Here you can BTW see how the old bases looked, I am quite likely to change them all into something better looking (not sure what though).
On the defiler, I am thinking about changing his cannon arm, but otherwise I am happy with it. As you may have noticed, the inspiration came from Lemmingspawn.

Thanks.
For the defiler, I just ordered a Dreadknight hammer and psycannon, to see if I can convert the weapons to look a bit better.
I also decided to for the time being make the bases just sanded, and then if I decide to switch to modelled bases, then... I just do that.
Will have two CSM finished tonight so just wait a little, ok?

Those hazard stripes on the Khorne icon are a really nice touch. Nicely incorporates the icon into the larger theme.

Nice work so far! You probably already know this but with the above comment of masking, most hobby stores carry smaller masking tape that is perfect for doing small hazard stripes on stuff. I have seen it 1/4 inch thick all the way down to 1/16inch and with the low stickyness adhesive they use there shouldn't be any problems with the tape pulling the paint underneath it. Good luck and good painting!

Huh, no. I didn't know that, actually... Maybe I should try that out, then... Although I think I can handle it pretty well, anyway
I have finished two CSM, however the camera is of course at the hostage. I'll post pics tomorrow, will try to paint a bit more until then.

BTW, perhaps you've seen one of my IW-obliterators at the June competition (WIP models)?

I figured that since they are usually corrupted techmarines, I should use techmarines with lots and lots of weapons coming out from then. Not very fond of the usual oblits.

Right - this is what I'm working on now:

The first actual squad, rebuilt. Will finish the construction of them tomorrow.

And here's five slightly converted Berzerkers. Will try and paint one or a few tomorrow (planning on painting only them as Knights of Blood, I like their icon).

Finally, the bitz I have at my disposal.

That bits box sure does look like a scrapyard, this army should be enjoyable to create!

Well, it takes up lots of place, though... You want to buy some?

As I said I am working on my Daemon Prince, it is made mainly from a Deathjack and plasticard. Here's some WIP pictures:

If you are at least a bit observant, you may have noticed there are no legs. I don't know what legs it should have (the deathjacks legs are far too small) - dreadnought legs? scratchbuolt legs, maybe?

A minor update - here's the first berzerker, from the Knights of Blood warband. Might have to split them off if the rumoured Chaos Legion book makes IW unable to have them, though, but anyway:

A little bit of freehand here.

Thanks you! Just note however, that I have several other projects going on, and this one is not really first in line, so it might go a bit slow. I am however painting the zerker sergeant, should be up here soon.

And of course, should the Chaos Legions codex be released soon, it would gain quite a large priority.

Otherwise thinking of converting a KoB dreadnought, with a juggernaut head (as a juggernaut head is their symbol) put on the front.

Another small update which consists of the Skull Champion, whom may also work as a substitute for a Khorne lord with daemon weapon, or even Kharn.

And also, here's a WIP usual Champion, with what counts as a Power fist:

Not completely decided about the bolter design, if they should have stripes or be metallic. What is your opinion?

Righto, the building of Aaron as Daemon Prince is just about finished; only the details are remaining. When he was done, I thought to myself, "Wow, what a monster I've made..."

He will have that axe in alarger form, just need to find a couple of fitting icons to put on it. There will also be chains hanging on him, and some spikes of course. Will try to paint some usual IW now.

Feels good to hear one's work inspires others, indeed!

Here I have the first usual IW:s, one with plasma gun and one with a melta (they are the only unbased usual CSM, so don't worry):

The champion is ready (servo-power arm):

Plas-man (!) is based too now, btw. Meltaman will be soon, then there will be nothing unbased in this army

Oh my! I did what I thought was practically impossible - I found a head for Aaron in pre-daemonhood form!

How does it look? Should I add some chaotic details, or is he fine as it is (I tried to add a small skull on his forehead, but that looked odd)?

I like your IW conversion ideas

I agree that a Greyknight dreadknight hanner would improve your defiler, but I like the cannon idea. Are you gona replace it with the psycannon, or are you gona use the main body of the psycannon and add the defilier cannon to the front?

The DP is looking fantastic also!!

I am really not sure. Both DK weapons turned out to be a little small for my defiler, so I'll see how I'll do. In any case I really feel a need to fix the weapons on it.

The only real problem with the cannon arm is the big box thats around it. Maybe change that for some normal defiler armour plates!

If I had some... I guess I'll go check the bit stores. But yes, it is definitely the box that ruins the left arm.

Very nice Iron Warriors you have going on here, the idea for the champion using the servo-power arm as a power fist is really good.

The Daemon Prince is looking Epic cant wait to see it with chains and spikes.
