As part of my current psychosis I am trying to make a Deathwing army with a decidedly Starcraft bent. Almost finished putting my latest vehicle toegether for it and thought I would share.

So here we have my Viking in assault mode:

And here is an image of what it is copying, which I think I've managed to get the key points of:

Here is a couple of additional pics of it supporting the existing Goliath. Both count as Dreadnoughts. The goliath has TLAC and ML, while the Viking can either be true to the SC2 vision of having 2 twin linked autocannon representing its RFACs (in the game it only uses missiles when its in aircraft mode and only RFACs when in assault mode), or could be assault cannon/ML to match what its actually shown with.

There are some bits and pieces of detailing left to do on the cannon arms and some minor filling needed, but its pretty much there and I am extremely happy with it, considering the extreme fiddling that was needed to make the thing fit together! Internet cookies to anyone who can name all the bits

Very cool. Can it change into flying form?!

Saint, the thread title is the soundbite from the game. I would imagine the answer to be " only if you threw it ".

That's a pretty accurate reconstruction. Nice work!

Thats awwwwwsome. I really like the use of parts in this conversion. And to top it off its almost identical to your reference pic. Great Job.

Looks like the source material, made all the more impressive by using a majority of standard bits. Awesome job!

Thanks guys

@Saintspirit - Doomthumbs is largely correct... The only actual transformation would be from a completed model into broken pieces on impact

Bitswise its mostly Dreadnought and Sentinel parts. The torso is from an Ironclad Dread, with the top plate from a Furioso Mag-grapple. The weapons are Venerable Dread ACs and Land Speeder Typhoon launchers. The power plant cas some Scout Bike footplates added for detail with the jet intakes being the Mag-grapples themselves. Legs wise they are modified Sentinel legs with the Ironclad leg armour over the top.

Basically everything is either upside down, back to front, or both The combination, however, actually matches the original vehicle pretty closely

Snappy conversion made all the more impressive, as others have said, by how little you've actually had to scratchbuild. The use primarily of existing bits keeps it looking at home in the 40K universe and their proper application makes it recognizably a SC2 unit. Great work!

You are definitely one of my favorite people in the painting and modeling board. You've really knocked it out of the park with this one!

I took a cursory glance around your gallery and couldn't find any painted Starcraft stuff; what do you have planned for a scheme? The idea of seeing this stuff painted is exciting.

You're all too kind

Regarding painting it is something of anathema to me, but I do have a scheme in mind and an undercoated Marine to practice on. Oddly enough it will be based on the in-game colour scheme with the rather pleaseing blue/grey mixture for most of it, with a red/grey mix for the second Dakka squad (they are commanded by Warfield, who plays for the reds... obviousyl ). I will probably scale back on the Confederate flags that crop up now and then
