I finished this guy up today, he is the Leader of my emperors Children splinter faction.
Im new at painting and modelling, so the painting isnt so good (i dont have many techniques down yet) and the converting isnt all mine (the daemon weapon was made by a friend)
I would like some critique please, I do need to still base him (i will be getting basing sand in a weak)

Paint definitely looks a little thick. I would suggest thinning your paints with either testors acrylic thinner (15 drops into a citadel paint pot) or just water (thin to the consistency of milk).
The metal portions could definitely use a touch of 'Ard Coat to make them shine, or a wash of Devlan Mud, if you want them to be gritty. As is, they are a little plain.
Drill out the gun barrels!
Other than that.... lookin' good! Keep that paintbrush moving, and you're bound to progress.

A wash and/or some highlights would make it look great, but as it stands it looks good!

Two questions :
What wash would be best for the purple areas? ive washed the gold in Devlan mud, and the silver/boltgun areas in Badab black. I was thinking Asurman blue, but that may not come out as i think it will. I also have a heavily pigmented black ink, which may work too with some thinning.
one that mystifies me : How do i highlight Rounded areas, like the bare shoulder pad and round edges of the helmet?

Drybrush onto a paper towel until the paint is almost like powder, and apply the paint to the pad in the center and make it fade outwards.
Good luck, and off to a good start.

what do people think of the look? its not particularly "normal" slaaneshi, but my idea for my chaos was to embody the idea of the perfection that the emperor's children Strove for before they fell from grace. They still follow slaanesh, but they do not take it to the massive extreme of their once-brothers. They focus to achieve the perfection of the Daemon prince Fulgrim (whose fate they do not know).
what i want to know, is what people think of the general idea, and of the paint scheme i settled on? (it was originally the emperors children pre-heresy scheme, but that was too... bright for my tastes, so i toned it down)
edit : the idea was to do something different from normal slaanesh everyone does, and i took one of slaanesh's lesser aspects (perfection) and focused my army on that. that turned into "what if the Emperor's Children didnt fall as far" That led to the Fullgrim's Angels, my current army plan

I like the base alot, however the model itself could use a little touch up. Overall though it looks nice.

There's a purple wash from GW, Leviathan Purple. It's a no brainer to use it on your armor. Then you could highlight it with any purple of your choice and it would look good. I don't like Devlan Mud over gold as it dulls it down too much; Gryphonne Sepia gives it a richer tone.
Also, drill your barrels! It really brings a model together.

Although most people like highlights, I don't use them myself necessarily. I would recommend cleaning up the areas where the purple touches the gold, since I think I can see a couple of spots where it either didn't get painted, or it got over on the other side. Nice job though. What model is this? I really want one of those spears. Did it come with the fig, and if not, where did you get it?

This guy is pretty much all from the chaos Terminator lord kit. Except the halberd/spear. That was made for me by a friend using the Termilord force staff and a pair of tomb kings swords. its basically two of them back to back to make the head of the spear.

Good beginnings.
It needs some shading and highlights. Not to forget that other than the metallics, you need a secondary colour.
