I was flicking through the channels and I happened upon a trailer for a new show on the network. After watching it I couldn't help but think about what travesties they would commit while remaking this show. If anyone saw how they did the new Looney Tunes I could only imagine what they can do to the Thundercats.
Doesn't look bad. I never was a Thundercat fan, but it looks interesting enough to watch.
If you're talking about the animation style, it's just that anime seems to be taking over for action cartoons. Shows with good western-style animation aren't really around anymore.
The East and West seemed to have merged together in terms of animation styles.

Maybe you hang out with immature women. Maybe you're attracted to immature women because you think they'll let you shpadoink them.
I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.
I wonder why that is (anime style animation).
I've been watching the 2003 TMNT series and it seems to stay mostly Western style and does it very well. Making Shredder's upper body badly disproportional to accent his evil and all encompassing power!

I've no idea why the style is so widely used, perhaps it's a percieved popularity of the style, perhaps it's more "cost effective"...I honestly don't know.
But I will say that I for one miss "Western style" animation.

Racism. I mean he was clearly the black guy I never really liked Thundercats it was silly, there were three shows that were almost the same, Thundercats, Silverhawks and Tigersharks. After watching Roy Fokker and Ben Dixon die I just couldn't watch the other cartoon where nobody died, they just seamed silly.

Cartoon Network has totally fethed itself.
I remember the glory days of Toonami and such, watching 8 straight hours of Ed Edd n' Eddy in the summer followed by 2 hours of Pokemon. Every day.
And late night was awesome. The total mind feth of Neon Genesis Evangelion at 4 A.M. before school everyday was amazing.
Now it's just a haven for the socially awkward kids addicted to Chowder and Adventure Time.

Last I heard of Panthro he was doing a dime in federal prison.
Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

I did watch some of the recently remade He-man cartoons and they were very well done. I'm not sure of the name of the style of the animation but it was very dark and crisp and the storyline was surprisingly well written.
Perhaps the Thundercats will also be treated to decent writing.
*shrug*
I don't remember anything about the original Thunder Cats being spectacular. Other than fond childhood memories, of course.
What I've seen of Cartoon Network's action/adventure shows was pretty good. Ben 10 (young and older) and Clone Wars were fun when I remembered to watch them. So long as they keep that up, it will be a fitting tribute.
People complain about Matt Ward and his Bloody Blood Angels with Bloody Blood Fists, but exalt a cartoon with a main character named "Lion-O". Makes perfect sense.

And a Panther person who was obviously supposed to the token black character(boy, what a clever joke, that) wearing S&M gear.
The only thing I remember about Thundercats(the original) was not liking it and the very homoerotic overtones between Lion-o and Panthro.

Quality writing is rarely seen in any television, and it's even more uncommon in children's television. For every show like the transformers there is a dozen shows like the gobots. For every show like the animaniacs/pinky and the brain there are a dozen shows like the mighty morphing power rangers.
That being said thundercats like many childhood memories are awesome because they are a childhood memory, not because the show was any damn good. Can anybody explain to me what kind of quality writing was in thundercats? I think the odds of the writing in the new show being worse than the old are about the same as it being better. No matter how much things change things often remain the same.
