Hi, i after having SO much fun creating conversions for my orks, i realised i hate having to paint 300+ boyz and wished there was a better team for conversions, which team do you suppose would come in ''second place'' for having the best conversion possibilities, out of the following teams, CSM's, Eldar and Tau? ''3rd'' and ''4th'' rankings also please and then some good units to convert, and, i'm only currently collecting chaos since the others are all 4th ed so in any case i would love conversion ideas for them, i know its asking alot but it would be greatly appreciated!

-Hugs for the hug god thanks you!

Nids, hands down. Almost universally interchangeable.

I'd say CSM. I love seeing all the cool things people are doing with nurgle.

Any SM is good for conversions, CSM probably most of all. If you are very skilled Eldar is great, but since most minis are metal, and have lots of fine detail, its a huge challenge to convert them.

Whats my game?

Personally I always found the Kroot fun to convert but they only have two poses for legs so unless you're very skilled or do a lot of chopping their poses will be similar. Tau themselves are fun if you've got time and money. The Crisis suits are great and easy to muck about with. However the smaller stealth suits are IMHO less convertable. Firewarriors themselves are ok but really the most you can do with them is indiviualize them a bit. There are techniques on using beastmen faces (removing them from the whole head and replacing the current tau faces) to give unit leaders a more personal twist - but this is tricky.

Eldar, like Mad4Minis says are hard to convert but depending on your theme there are loads of possibilities. Eldar pirates or Eldar Exodites spring to mind. And with a few bitz fom the WHFB Elf ranges or Dark Eldar range (most of which is plastic) you'd have a really unique force.

CSM would IMHO be the best/easier/most fun to do. They're interchangable with Imperial SMs bits, WHFB Chaoas Warrior, Beastmen and Daemons bitz, (as well as other human bitz from the IG range and WHFB Bretonia and Empire ranges). The themes you can have are amost endless and the point of the CSM fluff is that they're supposed to be uniquely mutated.

So CSM would be my top option here, followed by Eldar and then Tau

Really? That must be a new thing. I'm British, myself. Anyway, contact a mod, they should be able to sort out your flag issues.

Chaos. The name itself implies variation and lack of uniformity between models.

If you wanna move from the CSM, Eldar and Tau, I've had great fun modelling alot of things for Space Wolves before. Every model can be treated like an individual and still be and look part of a squad. You can also make fur trimmings all over the place, make your own thunderwolf mounts, converting dreadnought weapons, use buff bulky "feral" arms and details to your models etc. Just so much variety and personality compared to a basic SM army.

Besides that i'd say go for CSM. Tau will most likely change look with coming codex, and as stated before, Eldar are somewhat harder to convert, but then again i have no idea what level of conversion skills you've got

I would think Ork would be the best army for conversions. You can use almost ANYTHING for any of the army list options. You just have to Ork it up.

PM me if you want me to draw anything related to Warhmmer 40k. I will put it in my gallery for all to see.

I would agree with the others and say either nids, chaos or IG.

IG in particular are a personal favourite of mine. There's just such a rich array of inspirational sources to go on when making a guard army. Movies, books, history and even video games are all great sources.

The other thing i like is that there is no set way that a guard army has to look. Marines have to look like marines, eldar have to look like eldar, and tau have to look like tau. But there is literally no hard and fast guide on how a guard army should look.

You can basically use any human sized model to represent them and I think that leads to great scope in conversion potential.

I love how the OP says (paraphrasing here)
"I just got through converting orks, what should I convert next out of CSM, Eldar, and Tau?"

And in the ensuing comments, a lot of people say "Orks".

You HAVE to convert to make that army.
If you want them competitive, make Kroot Mercenaries "counting as" Dark Eldar, even more demanding.
