So basically i was playing 40k when my warboss got beaten in combat, now being sound of mind I figured the only way this could have happen was because the model I was using wasn't big enough!

I was using the warboss model from AOBR but since he is obviously too small I took a look at my options and with them being limited to Ghazghkull I decided that the only thing left to do is to make my own. So late one night I shaped up the torso and it was only the next morning that I realised it was probably a little larger than I need, but hay-ho at least he shouldn't be beaten next time!

Although I've been wargaming for some 15 years - this is my first forum post thingy so go easy on me

Pictures to follow of my work in progress! I'm hoping that regular posts will make me finish this project....

You should look for Jam session Eins posts on his big ass warboss he made. Forgot the name of it, but its humongous. Looks like your off to a good start so far, hes definitely going to be a big one. My boss (now turned a SC bigmek when allowed) I made, made the AOBR boss look like a nob in comparison, and he usually does pretty good on his own, so you might be onto something with the not big enough idea

Well they do say in the fluff the more combat orks are in the bigger they get. So after 15 years of gaming he should be big.

Did you sculpt the original torso out of wood and then build it up with GS?

Hey sennacherib, i sculpted the original torso out of milliput which is a bit like greenstuff but dries rock solid so is ideal for blocking out parts of a model, and then have started to apply gs on top.

Some more WIP images. I'm only getting around an hour a night to play with this at the moment to the progress is quite slow. Last night i completed the chest started work on his back and also blocked out some leg pieces but i just can't seem to get the pose right

Thanks! My plans so far are this.....His right arm is firing a twin-linked shoota in a gangster style, his left hand is going to be missing a finger or two but be supported by an orkish exoskeleton with clogs and motors etc which will count as a power klaw!

I completely agree I need to shorten his legs - do you think shorter thighs/lower legs/or both?

Of to a good start this is going to get really interesting.

I would keep the thigh length and shin length the same. Currently the thigh length as measured from knee to butt, seems too long. Current proportions look very human. Nut sure if I would still shorten both (but also maintaining ratio), I interpret orks as very squat, lower center of gravity makes sense for melee driven race. I also liken them to great apes in terms of physical attributes.

Lots like my Mega Armoured Warboss. About twice the hight of most of my Boyz, still towers over my Nobz. It is difficult to get the legs the right proportion, though, I'll agree. Might have something to do with how they're always bent-legged, never straight.

And honestly, Warbosses should be bigger in size. Characters like Ghazkul Thrakka ought to be Monstrous Creatures, really, not Infantry.

GENERATION 8: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

Its funny you say that, but our group agrees. A warboss should be a monstrous creature, they are F'in huge in the fluff, how is something that stands 12-18 feet tall not monstrous?

this is kewl, ive lately been wondering about a warboss with dreadnaught legs and an arm, course i guess the torso would need to be bigger to support that
