Okay, so maybe not love, maybe just, love using!
I ask because I am building a bunch of scenery at the moment and I'm looking for ideas and inspiration from the cheap seats! I've been all over Dakka and seen some cool ideas out there but I need some more.
My cheapest so far has been the old cans into storage tanks, but that's nothing original and there's only so far the GW packs can go before you can't stand the sight of another arched window!

This might not count, because I didn't "make" it, so much as assemble it, but I got some ruins from CNC workshop that I absolutely love. You can see an image here:
It's 2 separate kits that are modular, and can be used either linked together or separately - they have a whole line of interlocking ones. If you're in the US, don't get them direct from Australia like I did - they take around a month to arrive. You can get them from places in the US for both cheaper and much faster. They also have really nice bases to build craters out of, using the wide top of a Gatorade bottle and some plaster.
I did "make" a piece of scenery from this plaster wall section I got from the model railroad section of hobby lobby. I broke it up good and proper, did lots of chunks missing, bullet holes, etc - It's probably my favorite thing that I actually "made".

I'm very pleased with my Tau Long Range Sensor Array.
A shampoo container, plastic card, a scrap DVD and some textured paint. Cost wasn't zero but it's probably less than £1.
The dome next to it is a Japanese soup bowl costing £1.29.

I have made some really cool craters.
Here's a tutorial on how to make them.

No pics for mine, but the cheapest terrain I've ever made and loved was our old 'battle mat' from our 3rd year university digs.
It turned out that our living room rug was 6x4, so we taped out the table centre lines and used that as a gaming board!
Shame it wasn't ours and we had to leave it there at the end of the year...

Soups Bowls upside down, nice, I hadn't thought of that at all! Cheers Kilkrazy, and that crater is great...er...flying poo...appropriate picture for your name! Nice! I've found some old packing pallets that I broke up and turned into an aztec looking temple with a liberal coating of textured paint. Still, those are some more cool ideas!

@dave_salmon - Man that original source stuff is awesome shampoo, and now every time I wash my hair I will imagine tiny gorillas learning to club each other to death with rocks and branches and bones etc around my shampoo bottles
@Garviel_Loken - This is of course assuming that 'very small amount of bits' equates to 'whole rhino', but excellent work!

For sure! I love garbage night now, the only down side is when the neighbours come out and see you rifling through their bins for Styrofoam and Pringle cans! I scuttle off like a cockroach caught in a light beam with my precious, precious cans!

nope. i made the rhino out of foam board just cutting out the silhouette of the model.
the only plastic is the front, the 2 hatches, the doors and the turret top.

You can kind of tell its foam because it doesn't have the intricate details that the rhino has but I think it serves its purpose
here it is in the building process.

My mate used to have a whole game board made out of old toys he had castle grey skull as his mighty fortress and his necromunda board made out of lego and mechano sprayed up . Also you have to love the old pringles can as a tower and the polystyrene from packages made into damaged buildings

I made a clock tower that took a hit from some artillery for a city scape. It turned out pretty cool looking, but now I swear every game someone picks that and almost ALWAYS places it in the center of the table Its pretty cool, and perfect for kill teams when I use my GrotSnipa

I saw a great clock tower somewhere here on Dakka that I'm going to try and rip off too. I even ripped apart an old alarm clock to get a cool looking clock piece but it ended up just being a crappy motor and wires instead of gears and sprockets like I was hoping for. As for castle greystone, that's a great idea, wouldn't it be a bit big though?
