the new kits will make excellent additions...the lionel one tho i think is a bit out of place... poited roofs?...i only ever remember these in washington?... and in the simulation?...or am i wrong here? but i have the deepest faith of course

It's a pretty common mid-19th century construction here in the US and Canada Vik, especially in snow-prone areas (snow slides off so less weight on roofs)

somehow i think i kept my eyes too much to the floor so that those rooftops escaped my view

I should qualify that..it's common on wood-framed homes from the period. Masonry or brick buildings can handle the flat-roof. Also remember that Washington D.C. was a planned city layout, where other towns just sort of grew around major shipping lanes (rivers, canals, etc.)

really planned out cities are rare in europe... there are a few... but mostly you get these old "i- make- a- big- city- out- of- this- once..." type of town...usually also known as city cancer...

The newer building looks great dave , and your sidewalk work has paid off well. Now just get o'gradys put together and the nuka cola machine will look better next to it I think.

I'm not sure what to do with Grady's yet. the floors (and supports) are all 1-peice molded. Should I make it a complete inaccessible building? Or open it up as a ruin?

i think a complete accessable ruin will always be more satisfining for you...
i think one of the most frustrating issues of the game is when houses are completly shut...for no reason...as other houses are available to rummage around in...

don´t ask me... if i was you however...i would make the most of it and try to cut it in sucha way to make mybe two houses out of one kit...

I meant if you glued all the stories together, and then cut along the bricks just right, a fronted ruin, and a back side of the building ruin which are the less expected ruins but do happen.

Don't forget that those internal structure bits can be used to support the floors of your final building.

and think about where you want stairs etc...

Ah, if you are thinking of splitting it into two ruins, how about diagonally and making two single corner ruins (whatever the official description is)?

Just stepping out from the lurk, Dave - really impressed by your crackle success, I've never had any luck getting it to work.

Thanks Graven. It didn't work as well as I wanted it to. I think the key is a thicker topcoat, which I didn't have.

Could you not swap the floors around on the "second" ruin to create a cascade?

I've been thinking about that, but until it's cut, I won't know for sure. I'm just staring at my pen lines and second guessing myself right now.....
2 stories might work, but the third would just be an off-center suicide door

Yeah, it'll probably be a bit of 3D tetris to find a way to make it work. But yeah, you should get 2 floors easily enough and use the spare walls as debris/fallen over wall.

Unless, before you chop it up, cut some bits of paper to those shapes and see if it'll work or a different line might work better.

It's a board-edge building? Like a playset or a cross-section view of an intact building?
