Oh summer of flyers is still coming.. Just reference the wealth of creditable information out there such as random people on warseer saying its true.. Or maybe even BOLS.. Im sure google could confirm it also!

Summer of Flyers was absolute bullgak. It would never happen, as GW would have to take a model that is expensive, and reduce it's price! Impossibru!

May be they typod and it was supposed to be the winter of fliers, being coincided with my new updated blood bowl set.

I'll leave that for the hardcore GW haters do something with that if they like.

There was a rumor that Storm of Magic was fast tracked because Fantasy sales are down.

You realize they're all new models, right?

There's no "rerelease" there. They're updating old models and getting rid of metal/hybrid kits in favor of pure plastic(or in the case of the Cockatrice--resin).

Tis a shame most of the models are fugly

Think that was a good example of a shaky rumor that spun out of control to become "fact".

Other classic examples would be the Imperium in civil war, BA going to Chaos, Tau having weapons that shoot through hills, etc. And rending ponies. Can't forget about rending ponies.

If that's the case, have they ever advertised something that didn't come out? I can't remember that ever happening.

You mean this one that says absolutely nothing about Summer of Flyers and is purely an ad about DE wave 2, with emphasis on the flyer released in said wave?

"Summer of Fliers" was never more than an unsubstantiated rumor that last I recall, got legs and spread around because people liked talking about plastic Thunderhawks.

Well, the rumour has several parts:
1.) Reported sightings of several flyer models for almost all fractions. Since then, Blood Angels, Grey Knights and Dark Eldar got a flyer/skimmer. These reports have been from several sources. Next flyer rumoured is a Harpy for tyranids this year. Keep in mind that all Codices released since 2009 (except Space Wolves) have one flyer/skimmer unit.
2.) Summer event: "Summer of flyers". Only had stickmonkey as source. Didn't happen. Rumours from another source said what Kid_Kyoto posted here.
3.) Rumours that flyer rules will be part of 6th edition rules. Existed before the current batch of rumours. Still too far away to tell if these are true.

Don't forget about the Valkyrie . But yeah, this looks to have been a rumor that fizzled. It made some sense, though, given that we saw Spearhead last year and this was kind of billed as Spearhead with Wings.
