Like the title says, how many armies do you currently own? Even if you're just a hobbyist as long as it is a legal force over let's say...1000 points that still counts. Within my group of friends we seem to have most of the different collectors. There's the one who has played Chaos since 3rd edition has something like 5000+ points and is just now going to start a new army when Necrons get revamped. Then there's the friend who buys a new army every 3 months and maybe plays with it twice, I think he's pushing 6 armies now and is looking at buying fantasy now too instead of just 40k. I'm just curious to see how the rest of the gaming community is with their collecting, some people view having more than 2 armies as taboo unless you've been playing for 6+ years and there's the others who are all about the FotM codex. I'd have to say that I'm not quite a compulsive army buyer, but I get bored easily and like to have more options (in WoW I had almost every class to 85....I know major ADD.)

So go ahead and post whatever armies you own whether is be 40k, Fantasy, or Warmahordes. Or if you're crazy enough to buy LOTR shout that out too!

I have four armies but only one of them is over 1000pts (Salamander marines.) The others are Orks, Eldar and Tau. Started collecting them all at pretty much the same time

Just one, about 3000pts of IG. Spaceship fleets on the other hand, well...that's another story...

Ah, nice! I suppose I probably should have posted what I'm working with though, hehe.

I currently have:

-About 2000 points of Tau
--1250 or so of Dark Eldar, probably be around 1700 once I get more vehicles
-Around 1000-1100ish points of marines need more heavy supports
-1500 of Necrons that I don't use
-And about 500 points of Chaos that someday will be expanded and glorious!

I Own about 1750pts of Guard, with generous upgrades and I am starting a Dark Eldar force as i love how the models looks and play.

I have five armies that are 1000 points or more.

Seven, 5 of which are painted to a good standard, 2 of which were painted when I was younger, and one which I don't really use much anymore.

My Space Marines and my WIP Iron Warriors.

I currently have 2 completed armies well nearly
2000+ nids
2000 necrons
And I am currently working on 4 other armies the closest the finished are the IG then I have dark eldar, eldar and my love space wolves which if I didn't have a 5 yr bleep and decide to sell my army would have been approx 8-10 k points wise and dated back to rogue trader days

2k Grey Knights will be painted by the 28th
Thats it for 40k but i have 2 Fantasy armies and a Khador collection.

I own 3, but there are 5 40k armies dwelling in my home..

My Son has just over 2,000 points of Space Marines ( A chapter of his own creation), fully painted.

My Missus owns about 2,000 points of CSM , a Slaanesh based war band , painted in pinks, purples and blues.

...And I own 4,000 + points in Death Guard ( all painted)
4,000 + points in Orkz ( all Painted)
And 1,000 + points of Praetorian IG ( Painted) that I'm still working on ( building to 2,000 points).

roughly 5000 pts of Orks
roughly 3000 pts of Space Wolves
roughly 3000 pts of Chaos Space Marines
roughly 3000 pts of Imperial Gaurd
roughly 1050 pts of Dark Eldar
roughly 2500 pts of High Elves

all of which is in various stages of painting.
plus im collecting space marines and skaven through my wife.

I would estimate that I have
about 2000 points of Eldar,
about 1000 points of Dark Eldar
and about 1500 points of Iron Warriors.

Then there's my WHFB armies of course, that is
about 2000 points (if not more) of Warriors of Chaos,
about the same in Beastmen,
and about 500 points of Skaven.

Imperial Guard - 1000 points, fully painted.

Tau - 1750 Points, fully painted.

Grey Knights - 2000 points fully painted, another 1500 points assembled and base coated. Or possibly repaired and base coated. Got them off someone who...didn't take much care of them.

Chaos Marines (Modelled as count as Adeptus Mechanicus) - 2000 points, full painted and based.

Necrons - 1500 points, assembled, being re-painted.


Empire - 2000 points - Part Painted, about 50% complete.

Orcs and Goblins - 2000 Points, Fully Painted but being repainted.

Lizardmen - 2500 points, assembled but needs to be stripped and repainted.

Dwarfs - Unknown points, unassembled. Pretty much the Skull Pass Dwarfs and a Battalion I got in payment of a debt. I like Drawfs, just...busy with other stuff.

Warriors of Chaos - Being modelled as steam driven mechanical warriors. Proto-type models made, still working out the kinks. Not playable yet, but fun.

All of them (except CSM and Chaos Daemons).

With the exception of my Grey Knights they are all 4000+ points, and my EveryChapter Space Marines are at 19.000+ points.

Oh I'm so glad I saw this thread. I've just started collecting and thought it was bad that I have models from 4 armies now. It's so hard to decide in the beginning! I only plan on making 2 past 1000 points though (Eldar and Dark Eldar). I have:

Chaos Daemons - 500 points, not collecting anymore
Dark Eldar - 750 points
Tau - the battleforce, so around 500 points
Eldar - just a seer council, which is still in the post

I have 3000+ Points of necrons, and 1750 points of Spiky marines.(Chaos)

And a stupid (a LOT) of Lord of The Rings, that I don't use anymore... damn friends unwilling to play War of the Ring!

I've a touch over 5000 points of Orks and I think I can hit 1850 with my Witch Hunters now. I went heavy on the Inquisition stuff though, so those will likely split into smaller forces of Sisters of Battle and Grey Knights once the Sisters get updated.

2 that I would actually consider 'my' armies:

-2,000+ pts of Orks (Mostly painted, bar a handful of models)
-700ish pts of Deathwing (just beginning so few are painted)

However from my childhood I could probably field a working CSM of DE army using old models, although I'd probably have to proxy the HQ choice. Then of course there's my Fiancée's Space Wolves...
