Looks like we are going on day 2 and I am now starting to jones.

I use to be a Web/System/Recovery Admin guy it’s could be a lot of pressure, especially when it came time to update and security patches. We tested on pre production systems before going live with any patch. So essentially we had two systems for QA, Dev and Pre Prod. I think even the Dev teams had a few systems so when we would load on Pre production boxes very little errors. That type of system work really well but costs. Rarely a security patch would really whack an OS or mess up security so bad that the quickest way to recovery was full restore with TSM. Then that even several years ago like late 90’s

Anyway my thoughts are with the Admins.

I've been trading on B'town since the mid-90's (and absolutely love the site); but unfortunately, the site going down inexplicably for a few days, about every 6 months or so, is just one of those things that you get used to dealing with...

Actually, I think the site has had an incredibly good track record for up time. Worst I've ever run into is late in the evening it takes a bit of time to cycle to the PM box.

Don't know what kind of issues you're referring to but, since the phpbb update (3.x??), site downtime is almost nonexistant. That's been years.
Shotgun is correct. There are occasions where your PM inbox can be a real annoyance. I've experienced that myself regularly. It does seem more prevalent in the evenings. I suspect that, too, goes beyond the site itself, as Adam has been unable to pinpoint a reason for it.

Thank you all for your patience.

Yeah I think the thing that bartertown hosting doesn't seem to get is that there are a lot of trades in limbo right now, and every day makes it worse. DC# in inboxes, lack of access to paypal addresses etc. I understand a couple days, but it's getting to be long and I have a chunk of money hanging in the air. The items should have been here Saturday and they aren't here yet, but I have no recourse since I have no contact information that isn't on bartertown or in my inbox!

Trying to me patient, but getting nervous...

The next one of you that posts about Wraiths being I2 and ignores the whip coils mentioned 2000 times a week, and I am going to devote the rest of my life to becoming an ancient space god to trick and enslave a race, and turn them into soulless T-100s to rid the entire universe of life. At that point it will have been worth it.

It could be years, as I am not on the site on a daily or even weekly basis, usually, any more; but rather only go there when I am trying to pick something up or get rid of it. I've been there for at least two server changes, IIRC, since about 1995/6 or so. It used to be a lot worse than it is now, and I used to trade a lot more then when I was in school over 10+ years ago. Since I have been gainfully employed, I tend to spend more at my FLGS or on ebay; but it is still fun to go find a really good deal on some figs needing a little tlc.

I think most people pretty much expect these types of things to occur with any website, Dakka, Warseer, etc., included

In their defense, they provide a completely free service both in maintaining online trade reputations as well as hosting a venue where you can reach those looking to trade/sell/buy. Its only when the service goes down that you realize exactly how much of a value you're getting for nothing (same with dakka). Either way, no one will fault you for not being able to ship out your part of a trade when you can't access the info and the resolution process for paypal as well as bartertown's take on dealing with bad trades isn't affected by a few days of downtime. Sit tight... it'll be up eventually. Either way, I recommend always emailing yourself any address info (both physical and email) as well as delivery confirmation numbers when dealing with a trade so you can follow the status regardless of the status of any one website or device you use.

Agreed. Warseer was down for weeks and the timing pretty much coincided with a laptop failure for me where I lost my bookmarks resulting in a double whammy of me simply forgetting about the site in general. I went there for the first time in a while ironically today and the traffic (if you can measure it in news and rumors posts) definitely seems down compared with before. Also, their trading area has gotten significantly more eurocentric (specifically UK). That's not a complaint but simply an observation; they always had alot more international trade posts there compared with B-town and Dakka but it sees like alot more now after the hack attack.

That is doubtful, since they're in the same boat as you.
If they do, then normal BTown rules would apply.

By "bartertown hosting," are you referring to us (the Admin and owner), or the people that Adam (the owner) purchases his hosting through? If you're referring to the site Admin and owner, then I really can't add anything to what Warboss has said, except to tell you that we are keenly aware of it and are feeling the pinch just as much as you. Heck, possibly more, since we're the guys everyone goes to then *it* hits the fan. : )
Now, if you're truly talking about the hosting company... then, you're probably right. : )

Adam's plugging away at it during every available minute of his spare time : ) . Rest assured that he's trying to get everything up and running for us all.

It will all work out. Mine showed up as promised, but I have no way of telling the guy that. I'm sure he's sweating on whether or not the model has, but the thing is:

We're ALL in the boat together. Its not like just you and MM and porkslime are stuck without access. We all are. So we just have to hang in there.

Hope more old fools come to their senses and start giving you their money instead of those Union Jack Blood suckers...
