This is a great idea. My bartertown username is Gamefusion. If any of the three people that currently have trades in limbo with me happen to see this and want to get a hold of me, send me a PM. I'll redirect you to my e-mail, and we can work out finishing up our trades via e-mail.

I only have your addresses in my Bartertown inbox, so your models have been sitting on a shelf, all packed up, waiting for the site to come back online.

To the guy who sent me the replacement card; it got here just fine, and I just need your address.
To the guy who had a distributor send me models; they're here, everything's good, and I just need your address.

Hey guys XboxDude79 from the B-Town forums here. Just wanted to say good luck to Adam and any of the mods that are helping to get this fixed. I'm definitely missing my bartering fix right now. I'll keep checking in periodically, it was good to see a thread up on this, as the only other news I found was on second sphere.

oAFLORD here...

I appreciate what Adam and the boys are doing, I really do... but, when do we start to be concerned? I understand that Bartertown is not a full time job and Adam does have other responsibilities. Believe me, I am a parent of 2 (with 1 on the way) so I totally get time constraints. To reiterate... What is the tipping point? When does this become a worry? *crosses fingers this gets done in the next 48...

Looks like it should back be up relatively soon, per the site anyway.

The site being down makes one realize how nice it is to have a free, user friendly site such as B-Town. It's definitely helped me feed my gaming addiction. Sometimes I wonder if I have a trading addiction.

Same here. It seems my trading addiction fills in for my gaming fix.

Interestingly, I can send a pm by pressing the PM button to respond to an ad, but can't look at my Inbox/Outbox

I'm having the same issue. Oddly enough, if you click on a user's name, you can send them a PM from that page.

I sent a PM to Trademaster Adam letting him know about the problem. Hopefully the thick layer of irony won't stop him getting to his inbox to read the message about people not being able to get to their inboxes.

Yes, we are back up in "90% good to go mode" but Adam is adding more stuff back onto the site as time goes by. He THINKS we will be back to normal (or whatever normal counts as) by Sunday.

Avatars are currently disabled, and there is some issue with PM boxes.. but hope is there!

It'll be interesting to see how this "out in the open" online bartering will go since people can't make an offer via PM the usual way at the moment.

Interestingly enough, that is the way people used to trade, before PM's. We either exchanged e-mail addresses, or conducted business out in the open.

Conducting business in the open is really awkward if you have multiple buyers and you're trying to determine who is best or if you've decided one buyer isnt up to standards .. yet you still have to let them view all your responses to others.

Not the way to do business either online or in person

Oh, Lord, I do NOT miss those old, scrolling forums. : )

There's always email. You can insert your email address in such a manner as to avoid spambots (I am MagickalMemories and it is at America Online). While you lose the benefit of having everything hosted on-site, you gain the benefit of not being hobbled if, say, the whole site gets spanked by the host (hypothetically speaking, of course ).

I did not get to get online last night. I checked BT a few minutes ago, then immediately came here to be sure Pork had updated (I didn't know how long the site had been up).

I would like to request that the Mods leave this thread open for now, until we're certain that the site's 100%. While we can always post updates to BTown, those won't be worth much if the site drops again. : ) Thanks.

I agree with you. Hence why people typically exchanged e-mails. Or the posting looked more like an auction format.

P.S. to MM - I don't miss the scrolling forums either...

Board Update!
by TrademasterAdam » Thu Jul 14, 2011 7:09 pm

Hello all,

Sorry for the unannounced board update. We had huge issues with Apache, PHP and MySQL all at once so we punted and upgraded the whole lot to the latest version.

I'm adding back in the rest of the board features (ads, trade references, etc.), give me a few days to integrate the rest of the board features. Until then, I've turned the board on so you can continue trading.

No need to stress Dakka mods with watching a thread that is no longer necessary.

Now that we're back up and running, please visit Bartertown for BTown related assistance.
We have a thread set up, opened by TrademasterAdam, where you can ask questions

http://www.bartertown.com/trading/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=142473

Thanks.

Good day,

I have sent an email to several admins on B-Town just to get them up to speed.

I am receiving a 'Problem Loading Page' error when I try to load it up.

It was working last evening around 9:30pm Arizona time.

Hopefully this won't be as long a down time as the last time.

Thank you,
