(I apologize in advance if this has been posted a quadrillion times, but I searched key words in the relevant forums but turned up nothing. With a link to a relevant thread, I will ask the MODs to close the thread.)

Hi! I am an avid Warhammer Quest player, and I try to play it whenever and with whoever I possibly can. And when I get the opportunity to, it's always a lot of fun. But one thing that has been bugging me... is the fact that no one takes the Barbarian class. The class itself is not bad, and the model (and my paintjob) are great as far as I'm concerned, but still he will not be played. So...it's time to change tactics. I have decided for the 'sex sells' approach (more for a laugh than anything else) and have found some suitable Reaper replacements:

I would like to know how they appear placed next to a Games Workshop model before I buy them. I'm told they are similar, but that won't cut it for me. Height and body proportions is really what I'm after. I really appreciate any help, and sorry if this has been posted before!

You will find that reaper's figures are all over the place in scale, unfortunately.
Their Warlord line is very close to GW, I have a few of their TK and Dwarf figures mixed in with my GW regiments and they look right at home there.
The Dark Haven line is a mixed bag, you almost have to see the figures in person to be able to tell.
I think the figures you have posted are closer to true 25s than anything else.

I believe these to be from the Dark Heaven (or possibly Haven) product lines. And 25mm you say? hmm...

They are still nice figures. If you like 'em use 'em.

Almost any of reapers minis should work fine for quest. Even if there is a slight difference just remember, not everyone is the same height. I never understood why everyone expects every mini to be exactly 28mm. Not every person is exactly 6'0".

Are you sure? If that is a common practice with Reaper stuff, I'll measure up my models right now and compare 'em.

The Reaper miniatures match up pretty well with GW models. I just bought one a few weeks back and it fits in with what I already own.

No oversized space marine equivalents though...

They compare pretty well. They're 28mm figures. Some are just a bit bigger or smaller, but that's sculptor to sculptor bias.

Here is a picture I just took.

You bought them already, but I agree that the models should be fine. Reaper's models don't fit neatly into a 25/28mm 'scale,' but for the most part, neither Reaper nor Games Workshop sell models that are genuinely true to scale.

Most Reaper models that represent a human-sized character should fit in size-wise with Games Workshop models.

Reaper likes to call the majority of their stuff '25mm heroic scale,' which, if I recall, actually means 28 or 31 mm to them.

Well, turns out the models are actually smaller than I wanted them to be.

So...yea...anyone...wanna buy....three barbarian chicks?

really? you dont see the smaller size of the barbarian chicks working in the favor of the models?

You'd think so, but the scale of their limbs is just too disproportionate. The painted barbarians arms are as thick as their entire bodies.

well, considering those are female models, I think it works to their advantage and helps them stand apart from the hulking male type.

I WOULD take the models off of you, because I love reaper's stuff, but sadly, don't have a use for them. (Unless of course i plopped them down as dangerous terrain)

lulz.

Well, I'll try and think of a use for em.

Anyway, if anyone DOES wanna buy em, just ask.

Oh, and these were from the Dark Heaven Legends line, in case anyone wants more from them, or to avoid them.

And for the record, I love Reaper's stuff too, I'm just a tool for scale : D

I suppose so. Honestly, for a board game, they aren't terribly far apart in scale.

Sorry they aren't what you were looking for. I hope I didn't steer you wrong. That male barbarian looks to be 32mm scale, to be honest.

I'd think if you stuck them on square bases too, they'd be about as tall. I hear you on the proportions though, the dude is beastly. You're likely to run into similar problems with most minis lines, I think.

If height is your concern, I know Dark Sword minis tend to be a bit taller, ~32mm scale. They're about as weedy though, so it might not be of much help.

You'll have a hard time finding minis that are as chunky as the chunkiest minis ever released by the company that makes the chunkiest 30mm miniatures on the market.

The closest fit I could think of would be the old Chronopia Maidens of the Blade:

You can get them online from Ireland at Prince August miniatures, or you might get lucky on eBay.

I'm using some reaper stuff with my dark elf army. Specifically some of the Dark Haven female magic users to count as sorceresses for my army. They actually fit into the ranks fairly decently, and look good too.

Why not mount them on 25mm square bases?

It will bring them up to the same height.

The slight proportions are because they are females...

I realize the height is mostly them not being on a base. It's the body proportions though that really get me. I know the wimmins are on the smaller/thinner/slender side, but just not THAT thin.

BTW: Warhammer Quest was released in 1995. The barbarian is mounted on the larger fantasy base, there is at least one size smaller than it.

And don't worry kronk. You're still alright.
