When did GW suddenly decide to raise the prices on almost everything by 50-70%? This is ridiculous. Looks to me like they're doing a good job of running themselves into the ground. I dunno about the rest of your guys but I'ma start doing all of my buying on EBAY again. $50.00 on avg for a basic troops boxed set??? This is just ludicrous.

I don't recall any news about a new price hike. Have you been gone for about a year or two and just come back? That would certainly cause a sticker shock.

The market prices have also shifted a bit due to the national restrictions on who can get what merchandise.

In the case of Australia, prices have jumped considerably for people who cannot circumvent the restrictions imposed by GW.

Well yes, but his post doesn't read that way. And it'd only be the case if comparing local RRP to internet prices (which I like to do when showing off my new purchases to my wife - "I paid $40 for this one - you see it usually costs $85" etc...)

Not been around much for the last 5 years? How anyone can come to dakka these days and not trip over the dozens of threads talking about this is truly amazing. And where are you finding a 50 buck average on basic troops? Standard box is 35 or so.

Well I have seen a few huge price jumps. The one most notably to me:

3 months ago bought the plastic grot box, comes with 10 grots and a herder for 10 bucks. Pretty good deal. Checked for another yesterday for grot riggers for my vehicles, now the price is 16.50.

Price a few months ago, and I believe since they came out, was 15.00, so you're looking at a 1.50 increase.

This is the Australian or Canadian website. Scroll down to the very bottom of the page, to where it says 'Country Select' and select a country where GW's policy of charging more for our own good isn't quite as heavily enforced.

I can't believe you guys get Tactical Squads for $37.25. We pay the equivalent of US$65.82 for a Tactical Squad here!

Wow, there's not even correlation between prices there. 50% on some things but almost 70% on others and a measly 20% on WD. I wonder what that says about WD....

If GW's idea of solving the price disparity problem (well, solving the problem that people just order straight from the UK) is to place an embargo, I would expect further 'solutions' to be just as Draconain.

Where do you live? My climate certainly doesn't allow for swimming pools....silly Melbourne weather.
