So ya title says it all.

I was pondering is it worth running a chaos lord on foot at games around 2.2 to 2.5k?

If so any successful set ups for him and what do you put him with?

I run all my Lord and Hero choices on foot. Give him MOT, tali pres, enchanted shield and a magic weapon and he aint that bad as a hard hammer

What sort of magic weapon would you say?

I mean I run my lord with mok on a jugger with tali o pres helm of many eyes and rending sword.
So if I run him on foot with that set up he would just take a normal shield would that still be worth it?

Oh haha I see what you did there the mace works as soon as he kills anything right just bam beat down a guy I now cause terror yes?

Still I think I might just stick with the rending sword since I can re roll to wound which is nice.

Also poison attacks on a chaos lord are brutal I have found

giant blade +2 str aint that bad either, specially if hes got mark of khorne an running amok in the cenre field into enmy infantry/core with str 7 (or the +2 attacks sword at S5) aint that bad against most infantry itll help break the centre (or otherwise known as backbo whille still using his leadership for the majority of your forces

just how i see it anyway i don tactually play chaos but their lords are certainly mean as is lol

If large blocks of infantry are a problem for you

Cheap (for a Chaos Lord)
He has 8 attacks at WS8 and str5
what is not to like, virtually guaranteed to wipe a rank bonus when they aren't a horde with pretty average rolls and he still has a fair amount of points left over to spend on some other items.

Not so much a problem was just curious if there was a point to running a lord on foot.

And if so what would be an all around effective lord.

I have always loved Rune Shield but have nevr found a build for it yet (far to expensive for the challenge lord I wanna build)

Like the HE noble with the robe who runs around the jumps in front of hydras....I miss that build for my elves...

Honestly if you are not going to give a chaos lord a wardsave talisman the best tali for us is that little 10 point immune to everything sniping thing....I love that item though I forget its name

I have only given him MoT before...but thats because I was trying to see if I put enough killing power into a chaos lord would he need defense.... Mr. Bolt thrower and Mrs. role of a one proved me wrong...

Oh thats lame :( Im too paranoid about keeping them alive since my rolling can be terrible when I really need a good roll so over kill is not a bad thing.

Tzeench lord, biting blade, chaos rune shield, Talisman of Endurance, other tricksters shard, word of agony.

3+ armor, 4+ ward, no magic weapons for you, you re-roll wards, and once a game at the start of combat (looking at you high elves) a model takes D6 S4 hits with no armor save.

Chaos lords get tons of good options, I think a lot of it is just balancing how much offense vs defense you want.

I usually fields a 30 men large block of khorne warriors with additional HW. In addition to that I put in a chaos lord with armour of silvered steel (2+ save), enhanced shield and axe of khorne. That unit is nearly unstoppable in close combat.

**The Epic Chaosdude!!!**

I always run this lord if I can:
Khorne lord on juggernaut
Axe of khorne
Chaos runeshield
Iron curse icon

As an khorne player, i've found out that the best idea is to built your lord for killing enemy characters and this build up is simple and incredibly destructive (I once faced an opponent who also ran an chaos lord which I challenged with this lord. He lasted for two turns and only managed to inflict one wound back)

Heres also an nurgle lord:
Nurgle lord on demonic steed
Glaive of putrefaction
Skin hidden armour

I always run my chaos lord with an big unit of knights with blasted standard. Darn expensive but almost unstoppable and satisfying to field.

Chaos lords are purely fun, they are never as competing as sorcerer lords but its priceless to see your opponent shivering in fear and trying avoid one.

I'm not a fan of putting expensive Lord choices on foot, it seems like a waste of points as you want him to get into combat as quick as possible and kill as many enemies as possible.

I would agree with Chaosdude by putting your lord on a Juggernaught, that way he has a great save and can move across the board with ease.

Sadly this build is illegal

and the build with armor of silvered steel is elegal.
