Neophyte Undergoing Surgeries
Wellingborough, Northamptonshire

Hi, having been an avid hobbyist and collector of Citadel products since my school days, and a Blood Bowl set as a birthday gift was me well and truly hooked.
For my first 40k force I chose The Blood Angels', but after the release of Codex 5 and seeing all the cool tactical options available for the Codex Chapters, I decided to repaint my marines.
I settled on a DIY Chapter, which I named The Red Raptors and they hail from the 26th Founding as a White Scars Descendancy.'
As I got mmore and more painted I started utilising my ever growing bits box, and I used green stuff to fashion claws for the powerfist. On my other dreadnought I want to incorporate a couple of chainblades aswell, but i'm unsure about how to approach the conversion as I don't want to bugger it up!!!
Any hints or tips would be massively appreciated.
Many thanks.
HUFFSTAR.

My DIY Chapter's ace in the hole are an Elite Scout Company, whose active units have aquired the tag of,'Belt Notchers'.
Comprising of newly promoted neophytes, sergeants, and vets from the Chapter's inception. Exploiting all of the advantages which arrise out of stealth-work, the'Belt Notchers' are,in their own right a terror weapon and the mere hint, whisper or rumour of their deployment has been enough to quell many an uprising. |

This will look REALLY silly.
Try using Tyranid claws, like the scything talons from the Genestealer or Hormagaunt sprues.

I had the idea to form a fist out of putty, and include three plastic card blades wolverine style as a dreadnought sized lightning claw. Unfortunately my putty skills were not up to the task and that experiment is back on the drawing board.. Hmm, maybe that dreadknight kit has some plastic fists I can use..
What I DID get were Paulson games "robot combat talons" for my blood talons. He took them off the website though after GW started throwing lawyers at people so I don't know if you could still get them by asking or not

Here is what I did; my friend helped with the green-stuffing and the claws are large Tyranid Warrior Claws that I've cut down a bit. The model has yet to be touched up and based but you can see the claws I did for Bjorn.

The Furioso blood talons wouldn't work?
Not sure what you could do for chain blades.

I've always wanted to grab some No. 12 scalpel blades, snip the tips off and replace the fingers of the powerfist with them. As an added bonus the dread becomes a real life close combat weapon, you can pick it up and actually carve other people's models to bits. (Assuming you have any fingers left after making it.)
(Don't actually do this btw!)

This is emphatically not a good idea. It reminds me of the guy here who wanted to convert his Chaos vehicles by gluing razorblades and nails and crap to them.

I've bought the chainsword attachments from the catachan sentinel from various bitz suppliers and plan to replace the "fingers" from the normal plastic dreadnought power fist.
I think it will look cool - I just need to build it now (too many ideas - not enough time!)

I've seen people use exacto blades for modelling purposes, just like this, and it's not actually a terribly bad idea. The thing is, you need to know what you're doing, and you need to sufficiently file them to dull the edge enough that it isn't a health risk. Providing you take the edge off of them, they're fine.
