Very good start, I especially like the checker marks on your orcs, very well done. Main thing at the moment is that the blue on your marines is very flat, same with the green on your orcs. Are you using washes? A green wash for the skin, blue for the power armor, brown for the ork pants and black for all the weapons, you'll be suprised how much diffrence it makes. Keep up the good work

Very good for a beginner

The battle damage on the marines looks a bit naff though; like they've just had some silver daubed on them. Try using a small spot of black on the edge of the armour, then putting silver over the top of that, leaving a tiny bit of black showing at the bottom edges

Very nice, I really like the orks and the bases are a lot better than my bases.
The marines are a bit plain though, it looks like you spent more time on the orks than on them.

You got the paint in the right places, which is usually way more than any newbies first paint. BUt really, these are very good if they are your first few minis.

Id say for your first foray into GW your models look fantastic and you have alot of potential to become a really good painter! The work on the Orks looks great, the checkered patterns are clean and well defined! Nice Work!

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

The checkers look great, as do your infantry. Your kopta could perhaps have been done in a dark grey to give you more room to add shade.

To really bring scratches out, paint the top edge of the scratch your base colour darkened with some black, and the bottom edge of the scratch your base colour lightened with some white - this will give a really good illusion of depth to the chips.

Washes are also a really good investment - they add a lot of shading detail to models very quickly and easily.

The skintones are just great. I prefer the darker ''muddier'' orkz than neon green skin.

Looking good! I especially like the smiley face on the copter.
I agree with the others who suggest using some washes. There are recipes around for washes that you can make all that you can use for cheap.

Very good for a beginner. The orks look particularly good. The marines look a little too dark and the paint looks a little thick.

great work on those checkers though especially since I'm the only person I know who can't do checkers.

Thats got to hurt your head having a lamp that close to it between the light right next to your eyes and the heat givin off from the lamp it might just be the angle of the pic but I'd back the light up a bit or put on on each side of your work space but not next to your head like that.

Looks pretty good. I like the smiley on the deffkopta and the fact that you are running Goffs! Not so much on the sons of Roberta Girlyman, but I'll live and they look ok for a first attempt. I agree that they need a wash like Limbo said.

The Orks really do look great especially for a first time painter!

As others have said, the Marines could use some work. But heh, they're marines, who cares about them

Your painting is pretty good, but excellent for a new painter. The check marks on the Orks have me pretty impressed. I think you went a little overboard on the paint chips on the dreadnought though. The Terminator looks alright, but you should try doing multiple coats of white as opposed to one or two thicker coats. White is notoriously hard to paint, and is best built up in layers over grey.

You've proven you can get a good basecoat down, and that you can do some pretty decent detail work. Next you need to work on some edge highlights! They'll really make your minis pop! Also, nice work on the basing. Most people don't base their first miniatures, myself included, and basing really adds to the figure. Nice work.

One thing that I think might help would be to drill the barrels of your weapons. If you can get a pin drill and make holes in the end of the barrel that looks very effective very quickly. Also I'm not sure whether it's the pictures but there do seem to be a few mold lines around. If you clean them up to be smooth before you start painting that can also help make the models look better.

Nicely done, keep going and updating us with how you get on.
