Could a WoC army consisting of almost nothing but Marauders stand a competetive chance? Let's say we have 6 blocks of 50 with MoK/GWs and a Lord/Sorcerer as general at 2k points. How well would this do?

There is no reason that it couldnt.

Well you would have a horde of ws4 str 5 frenzied units.

Maybe just chuck in a hero bsb and a sorcerer maybe tz and you are set.

Also maybe only go with 5 blocks of 50 that way your sorcerer and hero can have good gear.

Also maybe add festus so that 1 unit of marauders has poisoned attacks and a 5+regen save.

Well Cow said it best, the marauder horde is the way I run chaos and honestly not much can match you point for point and you kill everything you touch. So yes I would say if you have the money (they do cost alot, I am only up to 130 of em and my wallets in a coma) they can be one of the best WoC builds around

Painting so many biceps must be daunting!

Wulfrik would be good too for a unit and you can have both him and Festus at 1500. Dwellers would hurt though being only Str 3, say good bye to half a unit if that hits.

Yah but Dwellers always hurts and honestly your running 200+ lumberjacks loosing a few wont matter in the grand scheme of things. Also I really dislike Wulfrik as he delays your force and is fragile but expensive

Kinda mentally drooling over what it looks like on paper but it does seem like it would be kinda boring after a few games.

It would look nice but that many marauders ahhhhh (brain explodes).

Also waht is the 5 step process?

Well first you primed them black (I use Krylon basic primer as its cheap)
1. Dwarf Flesh on the skin
2. Beastial Brown or Bubonic Brown (really depends on what you like) for the pants
3. Bolt Gun Metal for weapons/armour
4. Lioncloth army color of your choice (for me thats Merechite Red Base Paint)
5. Apply Devlan Mud and Black wash to where its needed.

And there you have it, easy marauders to a decent table top standard, maybe you add highlights afterwards if your feeling adventurous.

Army painter the skin colored primer.
Apply the metal and what ever for fure wood etc.
Dip.
Flat spray.
Base.

EDIT: when you said 5 steps I thought you had 5 steps just for their skin, which is almost as many as I"m used to.

Hey snow reflects the sun very nicely so if its not cloudy a tan is not difficult to tan

Yah if I was painting to a non table top standard than I would be doing a 5 step skin, but dwarf flesh with devlan mud matches my two giants (who swap between my beastmen, WoC, OnG and my buddies Ogres). Also being a pastey bugger myself I can tell you its hard to stay that way when your walking everywhere.

I'm a brown whore so for most of my models they have different colored boots on each of them. Last trip to the LGS I bought 6 or 7 different shades of brown. Never enough! Everyone needs 4 shades of "leather".

When I paint my warriors I always try to go for as much detail as possible. It took me 4 hours to paint 3 warriors rofl.

I ran 4x50 gw + mot, sorc lord slaanesh, sorc slaanesh bsb, and warshrines for ard boys.

the problem that you will run into with 6x50, and it happened to me twice in 'ard boys is dawn attack and rolling 1-2 more than once. your units are so big they get packed in a corner and you can spend 2-3 turns getting them out in a useful fashion. also with the terrain on the table even 1-2 piece can really make you work to get more than 1-2 of your units into combat

I would think this would be very competitive. Though, maybe 4 large blocks and 2 small blocks as redirectors or support units. Though I have to say, I don't think I'd have fun playing against this army. It seems boring and abusive of 8th edition mechanics. Bringing a unit on with wulfrik just makes this even harder to swallow. That being said, I recognize that I'm a very casual gamer, and am that guy that will run a dragon 2.5 points because its cool, knowing full well it doesn't stand a chance of hell of surviving.

I suppose that's what all these templates and ubber spells are for though....

Being someone who only runs the naked men from the north I can tell you Wulfrik looks alot better on paper. I have run in in 5+ games against 5 different armies and everytime he either shows up when I dont need his help or when the fights over. I would rather just have another block on my front lines than in a skyboat.

I've launched the skyboat exactly once, and it was devastating. We were playing campaign, and I was loosing several games in a row to the skaven player in the mountains. I was getting pushed back hard, so in what would be in decisive game for the campaign, I ran Wulfrikin my horde of 40 Khorne Marked warriors into his back lines, threatening his warmachines and piercing his meatshield (steadfast units of slaves and clan rats in a defensive perimeter) and going straight for his leadership.....

It worked just as I pictured, it was amazingly effective, and I won the game. It felt dirty doing it before and after. I suppose it comes down to a difference in how different people play these games, but that just didn't seem fun for me or for the opponent.
