Apologies for the grumping but...
Please could people use a bit of discretion and consideration when replying with quotes.
Walls of text are usually frowned upon, but for some reason blue walls are deemed acceptable
Constantly having to scroll past acres of blue wall gets rather tedious, especially when pictures ,or worse still videos, are constantly repeated.

Inevitably this just to find a single line reply!

Again please consider other members before simply quoting what has already been repeated.
Thank you

For vids and pics, I agree.

Text not so much, It saves on reading back in an older topic.

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

I tend to only include the last post. Very rarely I will quote the post before.

I agree that multi-quotes are just annoying most of the time, especially if you quote about 5 posts just to post you agree or something.

totally with you on that one chibi...in some threads there is so much quoting that it tends to feed itself... best way to avoid is in my opinion to spare one self the off topic section... very rarely i look in topics of said section...if i have to quote a single line mostly does it for me...

What was the point of all this?

Quite
What was the point of all the unecessary quoting.
Just to ask a one liner?

Ahtman it is blatantly obvious to others what the point of the thread is.
If you need assistance in understanding just ask nicely and I will be more than happy to oblige.

Anymore unecessary quoting just to make a nuisance will be considered trolling and the mods asked to remove it.
Thank you.

Edit:
Disappointed Filbert.
I am makng a simple request. If you don't wish to comply then there is no need to troll but simply ignore the thread or make a point
It is not witty to have to multiquote.

The OP's message is a pretty good one.

Subsequent 'joke' multi-quoting is frowned upon.

And not just because it isn't particularly funny.

So, in case it wasn't clear, please don't spam this thread with multi-quote pseudo-protests, etc.

I agree with pictures and videos, but I rather like it when people quote multiple posts (3-4) in order to talk about something. It allows me to look at what was said before without having to scroll a page or two, or even three, back in order to find what was said.

I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.

The Silliness Union rulebook clearly states it has to be done at least once, twice if someone is being humorless.

Can appreciate that Slarg, and also re: Solardin's comment.

To be fair a few short quotations is not really a big deal to me either.
It is more of a problem if there are full quotations of long comment that gets repeated a few times.

One current trend that is really helpful with videos is putting them in spoilers and much appreciated.

I had assumed this thread was about those who deliberately alter or mis-quote in a discussion...

I have seen a quote of my own floating about in someone's sig that is both out of context and severely editted.

The, "Corrected for you" type comment tend to be whimsical and no harm meant.

So I assume that there has been deliberate distortion of a comment for more dubious reasons?
That would be poor form.

The problem is, sometimes it's inevitable, unless you quote in some other manner. It's just the easiest way to respond to multiple posts from different people in a thread, perhaps on different sub-threads, and considering a time-delay factor since you last visited the thread.

I've seen the @ style used effectively for responding to alot of thread activity without a wall of quotes.

In the end, it's not that hard to roll your finger and skip your eyes over something you know you've read!

I don't think anyone is suggesting that quoting from multiple people and posts to reply to each individual is a problem - it is people quoting entire conversations just to add something at the bottom or continue the discussion that is annoying.

If people didn't post loads of quotes, it might be easier to see the smaller posts as you rapidly try to scroll through endless pages of people posting the entire conversation in every single fething post

Thanks Silver

You basically nailed it.

Seeing the same conversation constantly repeated becomes tedious. Especially when it contains images or worse, videos.

Rocker, it is a question of consideration for other users rather than one's own convienience in simply pressing the quote button.

I genuinely find text walls difficult to read from and tend to have to skip excessive amounts of text.
If I see a Blue text wall I tend to switch off.
It is unlikely that I am the only member who has such difficulties.

It doesn't take much effort to copy and paste the last/relevant section and wrapping it in quote tags to save others the trouble of scrolling.

Might be a good idea to edit your post before the mods see it
thanks
