I saw one guys army who converted bloodletters into plague bearers. He painted the bodies green and then converted the heads to make them appropriate. It came out very well.

Well you could use non daemon products. GW ghouls with some GS look great

If you want to go cheaper then maybe mantics ghouls and zombies with GS could pass

I reckon the ghouls idea is the best if you wanted to use games workshop models.

If that isn't a pre-requisite then you might consider mantic ghouls - they look quite nice and they're a lot cheaper than GW models (especialy if you buy in bulk

Why must I always choose beween certain death and probable death.

I'd probably go with mantic games zombie command squad.

They look Nurgle-ish to begin with, and even come with the right things if you needed an icon or instrument of chaos. Although I don't know how much less it will cost you, what with shipping prices and which country you live in.

I used ghouls , but now afterwards I would have better used bloodletters because of the sword conversion ...

Ghouls don“t have swords = more work .

Just a thought for you .

WE dryads make good plaguebearers. Just paint them to look like rotten trees.

Does anyone make an actual demon model that is cheap (im aware of the Heresy model but they are not cheap).
Most of my plague bearers are conveted plastic Fimir and skeletons with the odd orc and zombie and some GW command models.

I recommend bloodletters, but make sure some of them have a single eye. Also they tend to have a single horn on their heads

for the swords, if you can find some old, rusted nails (like I did) saw them into 1.5 or 2 inch segments, they make AWESOME plagueswords. And, they can actually give you tetanus! I mean, if the models can give you lockjaw, they should be devastating in the game! (Oh, I wish...)
