As much as Id like to agree...I like Dreamforge getting as many sales as possible, so I wont complain.

As Im about to start Warmachine I might even see if anything Dreamforge could be used in that...

There is not a whole lot else you can do with them right now honestly. How can you build and paint them for a game that doesn't exist yet? That's why I'm nervous about even assembling them as I'm not sure what kind of squads there will be. I figure I'll put few together, just for kicks and leave the rest for later. I have lots of other projects to finish so I can wait. I've got two boxed of Sedition wars to put together and paint for now.

Too much invested in 40k to pick up a new system. Its why i let malifaux, infinity, warmahordes, even whfb fall to the wayside.

I adore the models, and will shoehorn them into the 40k universe, after all it makes my armies look unique

I'll use mine for Iron Core when the Kriegsmarine models come out.

Until then I plan to pick up Shadokesh as my IC faction.

agreed on all accounts, though I wouldnt call it squandering....since iron core hasnt been released yet. Once the rules and such get moving forward I'm sure there will be plenty of KS backers that will give it a hard look...since they already have models for it

Iron Core doesn't exist in rules form yet - and it's simply going to be one of a huge pile of rulesets. So assuming I actually get my figures modelled before it does come out, I'll be painting them as I please - and you can bet that they'll be 40k-compatible.

I'm not "squandering" anything - when the Iron Core rules come out, I can use my DreamForge models in that game, and use them with my CSM as well. It's a win-win for me.

If anything, everyone who uses DreamForge models with 40k rules will now realize that rules and models are actually separate and you can use the figures you want with the rules you want as long as you find the representation appropriate enough. Though many already know this, there are actually lots of people out there that will see an alternate model for the first time and have an aha moment as a result.

Buying DreamForge miniatures for use in 40k is a step in the right direction as it's a move towards taking true ownership of one's hobby rather than always just going with what's marketed to you as part of a prepackaged experience.

People are buying DreamForge's stuff because of their merits as miniatures-- the fact that they're choosing to use them instead of GW's offerings for the miniatures they use in 40k is a complement on DreamForge's quality and value.

Well hopefully, Mark will also make his rules so that those of us with massive 40k armies can use them in his game as well.

It forces one to think. What if the IG had just a standardized education program and fewer but better weapons, what would that look like.

I know, an army of veterans. Just humour me though.

I still want some complete Terrax Guard models without having to fudge around with commissar+storm trooper conversions, sigh a man can dream

The 40k universe is a big place. There is lots of justification for a guard unit to have managed to act sufficiently political with a planetary governor to get the resources they need to put that into place. It's been lost a bit in the latest couple of editions, but the Imperium is largely a feudal society where planetary governors run things relatively independently. As long as they pay their tithes and maintain the faith of the Emperor, the Imperium often leaves them to their devices. There's no reason a sufficiently wealthy and powerful planetary or system lord can't train and outfit some IG to a higher standard than others.

Only reason i'm using some as sisters of battle is because I've always wanted some and dont want to resort to doing illegal castings or spending tons of money on metal minis. Plus it'll be fun coming up with a unique army.

Since the dreamforge stormtroopers are relatively cheap, I'll probably just buy more to use as regular minis to use in Mark's system. I dont have a problem buying more models if I get a very good bang for my buck like this.

Unless the russians look even cooler of course

@Nose Goblin--Any plans to release bases?

I would love to get a box of WGF Germans, trick them out with Eisenkern accessories and put them on DFG bases to represent shipboard officers and crew. They will be the Admiral Pietts and the General Veerses to my Eisenkern Stormtroopers.

Arent the bases different sizes though? I would think that would lead to issues with appropriate basing. I'm also not a fan of adorning the minis with the iconography and paint schemes of another background setting, but perhaps i'm a fluff purist/snob in thatregard.

Hence the question about the bases in the same post, I guess.

Just using gw bases. It shouldnt really matter, as long as you use the same base size for everything.

You might need to get over that a little. Particularly since these figures have very little fluff, and particularly given that in this case he's talking about combining 1 set of "Space Wehrmacht" with a different set of "Space Wehrmacht". I find it a little sad when people have that attitude with GW minis, and there's no difference here.

Was supposed to get mine on Saturday, but the snowstorm put a damper on it. Nothing today, but hopefully tomorrow. I'm guessing there's a huge backlog for the post office to work through.

My tracking number is in cant wait for Monday.

Im going to use the stormtroopers as elite IG troops. Im painting them a grey/white for a winter urban force. The heavy troops Im thinking of as Grey knight allies but not sure if I want to do that. Im looking forward to the rules and would buy more if need for Dream Forge rules.

I asked about basing because I would like to spend actual cash monies (toy GBPs) on a bag of DFG bases.
