Hi, anyone have an idea on a good tactic for Tyranids that can be used against Imperial Guard, and space Marines in a 1500 point battle???
Anyone Please!!!!!!!!!
New Player!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Got lots of units but little long range weapons and allways get destroyed by morters and basalisk before my units can do anything. Mostly end up in a last stand with my hive tyrant.

6 rippers
7 warriors, one of them a prime
3rd edition tyrant
4th edition tyrant
30 hormogaunts
38 termagants
16 genestealers
Is what he has.
That's a workable list!
Run the hgaunts as a screen, make a sporting for the warriors, and run the genestealers as two groups of 8 with toxin sacs.
See if you can trade a tyrant for a carnifex to use as a tervigon.

Well actualy the second tyrant is just a warrior with monstrous arms and venom cannon would that be considerd a 3rd edition Tyrant? and there is one more warrior behind the Tyrant.
And thanks for the advice

My mistake, that's a warrior after all.
For expanding it, get more genestealers, some hive guard, and convert somespore pods.

A trygon prime cant hurt either. Come up behind those basilisks and break em! The rippers are mostly a waste of points.
edit*
Oh, and a sizeable squad of hormagaunts with adrenals can take on tactical space marines pretty well in my experience. So many attacks they cant armor save them all. A guardsman squad with equal numbers can go either way, especcially if they have a commisar with a power weapon. Zoanthropes from a mycetic spore next to tank lines can put the hurting on them too.

These would be a nice addition to that army. Ymargl's are great for messing with an opponents deployment, especially with flanking stealers as well. Hive guard will help against vehicles, especially transports, they love shooting them up. Spore pods will help you get into your opponents line, as biotite said zoanthropes podded next to tanks are not what that tank crew wants!

Trygons are always fun. With Space Marines getting a fex or Tyrant... And MC into CC usually is a fun time for tyranids as long as there are no sneaky librarians hiding in there

Outflank genestealers. Always a good move for putting the pinch on a list full of tanks. Ymgarl can also be good for this too. Convert 2 tervigons. Any Tyranid list that wins has at least 2 tervigons. Hive Guard are the other crucial Nid unit. You will need at least 3. Genestealers and Hive Guard are probably the 2 best units in the book and when used right, they have no problem earning their worth.
Always make sure your units are in cover. Always make sure that you are in synapse. Always push forward.

+1 to what deadshot said about metal hive guard. I built 7 of them and painted 4. They are also very easy to fall over on uneven tables.

outflank geanstealers when facing marines. if you face gaurd i'd use mawloc/raveners/trygon. Spore mines are good for controlling where they deploy...

Further still I could feel its primogenitor coldly assessing me from the void. Outflank a tervigon or genestealers with adrenal glands or both.
basilisks are often placed in the corners so they can cross fire and hit more. Genestealers and an Outflanking MC can take care of them easily

Echoing the advice that Hive Guard are brilliant, as are Tervigons and flanking Genestealers. Tervigons will halve your Gaunt casualties to Mortars by giving them FNP. If your opponent likes to deploy heavy support at the back of the field, outflankers will destroy everything - a Hive Commander Tyrant will make them arrive quicker and more of them.
Speaking of the big guy, your Tyrant needs some Tyrant Guard. One TG will more than double the Tyrant's survivability, two might survive a battle (and so not relinquish a Kill Point), three makes a nasty deathstar that can deal with most threats. (How does a single TG double survivability? A Tyrant cannot claim cover saves for standing behind a Termagant, as it's a MC. But a unit that contains a TG that's hiding behind a Gaunt is in cover! As well as that, you've now got a pool of models to take wounds.)
Zoanthropes can blast any vehicle, however if it's not a Leman Russ or Land Raider then it tends to be overkill (and, when playing Space Marines, easily blunted by a Librarian). I get a lot more mileage from Tyrannofex and Hive Guard as my anti-tank.
Tyranid Warriors are difficult to get results with, especially when Basilisks are blasting them to pieces. The best plays I've seen with them are:
- Mycetic Spore, loads of Devourers and Lash Whips. Land in a safe place with little Str 8 to insta-kill you, and dare them to charge you.
- Hive Commander Tyrant giving them outflank, with a Tyranid Prime in the unit. Can be easier to avoid insta-kill units.
- Dismantle them and use carapace bits and flesh hooks to convert them into Hive Guard and Tyrant Guard at a fraction of blister pack models.
The only use I've found for Rippers is to be created by the Parasite of Mortrex.

I would agree with the other posters out there that Genestealers are a great unit in nearly all situations. They put the fear of God into an opponent. There are 2 ways of using them:
If you are outflanking stealers then you want them in smaller groups. Say 8-12. ANy larger and they get very unwieldy the turn they come in. But with this setup you are missing out on FnP since you really want to be coming in close to the enemy and have to wait for reserve rolls to favour you. It has the bonus of pushing your opponent away from the edges so they can't kite you so much, but there are downsides to this too.
The other way is to use them in large infiltrating broods. 16-20 for unit size. Give them toxin sacs (or not...with units this big it's not absolutely necessary) and push them as close to the enemy as possible. Remember that you need to stay spaced out though due to templates and the like and to leave a conga line to allow FnP to be put on the unit. In this setup you start about 18" away from the enemy...turn 2 charge on something is pretty much guaranteed. It also panics your opponent, meaning your other nasties can make it across the board relatively unscathed, and if you have supporting DS units then you have the potential to have the shooty units tied up when you arrive.
I personally prefer the 2nd setup with multiple units. 40 stealers total, 2 tervigons and 2 broods of min size gaunts. 6 Troops choices comes in at 1050pts with a few upgrades thrown in...leaves plenty for the HQ, Elite and Heavy Support section. Automatically Appended Next Post: Dammit...now I'm in the mood to bring my nids out of their box for a tourney in a week even though I have been practising extensively with my GK's for the past 2 months.

I would say that a lord and a large brood with Adrenal glands is deadly while outflanking.5,S6,Int8 rending attacks, followed by a lot of S5,Int 7 rending attacks?Add in an Implant attck for ID rending attcks from the broodlord.
