"news" is always a rather loose term with Fox.
But I think it's done for the same reason newspapers give apologies for mistakes they made in the next day's paper.
The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Because one is the enemy, and it doesn't matter what either side does, it's only wrong when the other guy does it?

It's going to be an interesting day. I agreed with Andrew Levy for once.
now if they could sincerely say Sorry for the News mistakes that go unnoticed by
everyone at Fox, that would be a truely great day.
I've seen Keith Olberman apologize before his show was over on any error on his part.
Rachel Maddow is also quick to point out anything she's misstated. it would be nice to see
Fox talking heads be that honest. to this day Billboreilly still won't admit his misstatement about
Allies 'Murdering" German prisoners at Malmedy.

Fox news is not a news network. More then half it's programming schedule is dedicated to editorials and infotainment.
I assumed that because it was "Fox News" it was actually a news program - I forget that we are spoiled here in the UK with our news programs actually being news programs
A lot of news networks now have something like this for their shows, whether its Fox, CNN, CBS, or Comedy Central and they will always have things like this. For example, Anderson Cooper has now ripped off Stephen Colbert's listing idea although I am sure Stephen stole the idea from Rick Sanchez who has Rick's List. Now, comedians will sometimes think that they're better than someone else who is doing the same thing Fox News being that comedian. The Comedy Central news teams are humble in their comparisons despite giving better news than most real news networks. Which is funny because the 'real' news networks think that they're better in comedy compared to the comedic news shows and the comedic news shows has them beat in comedy and sometimes news.

This is Fox's 3-AM (or thereabouts) comedy show. They used to have Oderus Urungus as their "intergalactic correspondent."
dogma wrote:I'm wondering why this is funny (and it is) but Colbert and Stewart are "idiots."
Presumably this is directed at me. Although I'm not sure why, since I didn't refer to this clip "funny." And I wasn't aware that "funny" is necessarily distinct from "idiots" or "stupid" (especially given that you've referred to this clip as both).
Besides, where would Dakka OT be without it's two minute hate? Full of angst, that's where.

Most news networks are jokes that run specials covering the same exact thing, I think Christian Amanpour has covered religion in the middle east three or so times. Not that there's anything wrong with having a special, but I want to know what's going on in the world as opposed to what senator said what stupid remark or what celebrity was arrested instead of having to wait for one of the 'specials' to air and actually give me some relevant information.

Yep.
Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh.

Oh look another person who hates Fox news, how original, how unique... Fox news lies has several facts about Sarah Palin who is not a member of Fox news. I would say that Fox News Lies lies about the fact that it contains lies Fox News has said seeing as though it includes lies from other politicians, Republican politicians mind you. Oh, and how easy it is to pick over the corpse of the dead horse that is criticizing Fox news, its the only Conservatively biased news network on television so its the odd one in this whole thing.
I would rather trust Snopes opposed to this obviously liberally biased website.

So you thought it was insightful, or of note for some other reason?

They aren't, but "funny idiots" and "funny men" are different things, and most people don't add "idiot" to "funny" by subconscious process.

Is it now without angst to tell people they should watch X because they hate on X?

Sarah Palin works for fox news. She is on their payroll as a consultant and is a very common contributor. She has contracts with them, it's on record and she's commented on it as have other members of fox news staff.

You mean you don't want to get your news from a fething 40k website? Why? What could this website possibly do wrong, does it not bring you news about tiny plastic men consistently? Whine more. Fox news practices yellow journalism daily. It's what employees of fox news are required to do. When they don't they are removed. They snipe every neocon talk host that breaks from their contracts and they net every conservative ex government worker they can.
They are not a legitimate news network any more then comedy central is. Thats sad.

Strange, I did a search for "Fox stewart idiot" and all I got was clips of Stewart calling Fox idiots.
Not saying it might not have happened, but you think it would have shown up on the front page.

Fox news is a part of the fox media group which is ludicrously litigious. It's usually difficult to find fox news or sports clips online when they aren't from a first party source. Fox itself doesn't keep it's archives available online. I've had to make news clip shows and documentaries using their material before. It's not easy, and that's when you're spending several hours a day trying to find unedited material.
By contrast Stuart has a young and media savvy audience and comedy central puts it's gak everywhere.

I didn't see any instance in which Stewart called Fox idiots. Though I saw many private blogs owned by Fox broadcasters call Stewart an idiot, or something similar.
