As far as I know nothing came out of the whole Wayland thing, and there wasn't any kind of news release on their blog. (Although I stand to be corrected!)

I'm NOT getting any GW stuff.

I'll wait and see with Wayland (they are having issues, according to their facebook page).

But if nothing eventuates, it won't matter. I have enough stuff to keep me going and the rules can always be found elsewhere.

I have noticed an influx of Oz gamers getting Propainted armies off of ebay or getting new ones state side. With the discount most studios give on models and the propainted costs it comes out to just about to over current Oz retail prices.

So they're buying GW anyway?

There was a local shop that closed near here that sold all their stuff on ebay primarily to Australian addresses.

I'm buying the occasional used bundle on eBay if I see something for a good price.

Other than that, I'm taking the opportunity to get into Warmachine again at long last.

I buy from my FLGS, though the only GW products I've bought since the embargo have been 2 finecast Zoanthropes and the new VC Necromancer. My FLGS does a discount (varies at around 10%), but I buy there to support them.

I've always paid local retail anyway for GW stuff, so the embargo didn't really annoy me. Well, aside from getting the bulk of a VC army from Wayland for $150 just before the embargo kicked in.

I've ordered a few kits from the UK GW site; it's still half price and the kits are four dollars or so more expensive than Wayland's prices, not including shipping of course, though I haven't bought very much from them, still waiting for Wayland's solution.

Wayland are relocating to larger premises atm, according to their FB posts.

There's a convention coming up in Sydney in October where I plan to loot the 2nd hand room.

If you want a decent discount, may I suggest GWUK. They're an 'internet freeloader' company, as Mr. Wells likes to call them, but they ship to Australia at UK prices.

I'll say this - thanks to Forgeworlds relatively stable prices, the gap between FW and GW is closing for Australians.

Buying 20 mk II-VI Space Marines, 20 bolters and a pre heresy special weapons pack (which includes 2 missile launchers, 2 flamers and 2 meltaguns) only about $40au more than 2 tactical squad boxes. Want a Guard army? Elysians and DKoK are only $15au more per squad and the models look far better.

Some stuff it actually cheaper - a Stone Crusher carnifex complete kit gets you the Stone Crusher parts and a full Carnifex kit for less than GW charges for a full Carnifex kit.

By the time I pay for shipping I am only paying $20 less. It's hardly a discount with Wood Elf products. $62.70 shipping for 9 treekind is just absurd. Also, I am not waiting 2 weeks for it to arrive because time equals money for me.

Because supporting an awesome FLGS is a better option than saving the odd $20. Especially when they discount GW stuff anyway.

dakka, ebay, and BT, although ebay is becoming a racket of sorts and it's kind of making me sick looking there for things i want. i typically do best with private deals. you don't ask too much, i don't pay too much, we're all happy.

edit: just saw this said oz. well the same priciples would probably apply if i lived there, too.

While realize you're being sarcastic, I believe we directed you to this one in another thread. It's not too far from Sydney. It's also now 30% bigger, with a large gaming hall and a separate shop area.

I actually walked past the local GW last Thursday night while grabbing some Winsor Newtons from the shop next door, and it was empty. We drove past that store on the way home and it was packed. They seem to have even stolen all of the local GW's customers.

I'm not, really. We don't have that culture here. I've never seen a gaming store that wasn't just a pure model kit store (like HobbyCo, which is up the road from me a bit further than the GW is) or a combined catch-all 'games' store, with a shelf of 40K stuff next to the 3 billion different versions of Monopoly.

I know of one in the city that my friend goes to... but that's it.

Ain't that the truth. I've bought a PS3 and 20 games in the past month. Just Cause 2 has been the best $20 I've ever spent!

Honestly I thought this myself, but if your ever up for the journey, Hall Of Heroes like Loki mentioned is one of the few places I can ever remember seeing that's not just a model kit shop as you said.
The tables there were fantastic and last time I went a huge group of people were playing Flames of war in the corner, while another large group were playing MTG and a few were playing 40k on the remaining boards. Whenever you have the chance I highly recommend you check it out, even if its a bit of a journey for you.

So what are the options for us in the land Down Under?

Wayland is dragging its heels

Package forwarding companies are an alternative. I'm thinking of trying forward2me in the next week or so; but I'm unsure what others are out there that's good and if its the best one. Id like to be able to consolidate multiple packages into one as Maelstrom does like to send many small packages :/

Are there any UK/US ebay stores that sell to Oz that have a half decent range of boxed sets?

Does anyone know if the Warstore ships to Australia?
