Hah thanks for all your encouraging words you guys Dakka, you always flatter me, shucks.
On some of the techniques painting this guy.
I did use an airbrush for the blue but followed it with an ice blue glaze on the highlights and a regal blue/liche purple/black mix glazed into the shadows.
All the highlights were done with multiple passes to make them extra smooth. If you're covering your foundation color with one coat your paint is too thick.
Once I was done with all the brushwork I went back and airbrushed some tan around his feet and some black on the ehaust pipes and Multi melta.
The whites were all done by starting with a mix of codex grey/graveyard earth/ and various amounts of white.

Great piece, especially the blue! My one critque is the airbrushed dusting on the legs, too light, smooth and dusty compared to very earthy and gritty base. Nitpicking because it is so close to perfect

Hah, Thanks you guys! all of you, I'm kind of oldschool when it comes to marines. When I see ultramarines I think of chekers, cheeta skins, and roman mohawk helmets. Major Tom, you give great feedback man. I'm really trying to push myself to be a top level painter and I really appreciate your input, Thanks!
