Sadly, I was thinking about starting a Sisters army, but then I was told of the new codex, mini codex, magazine issues stuff.
I opted to start a Daemons army instead.

I actually always considered playing Witch Hunters/Sisters of Battle, back in the day (I hated the awkward as hell point costs in 3rd edition, as well as the weird squad sizes). I obviously opted to start Wolves instead, but I always thought that I would maybe play them if they got a 5e codex. After seeing what the new 'dex has, though, I doubt I would. Especially since there don't seem to be any new models, so I'd still have to buy all sorts of metal.

The fact that they are getting a White Dwarf codex pretty much killed the little desire I have ever had to play Sisters. Not to mention that most of their models are metal and I wouldn't even want to get close to those models.

I'd love to play SOB, but the combination of this new 'codex' and no plastic means no way for me. I can't afford the army I've got, and starting a new one, one that costs more money for 3 models than a full squad of my marines... no thanks. I'll wait.

You wouldn't be saying that if you actually played them against a lot of the top lists, if anything, they fail in comparison to blood angels.

How can I have; I have only had the Mini-Dex for 2 days.
I think they will become very completive once everyone figures out that its not you only get 1d6+ Faith Point a Turn, it that you are going to Spend 1d6+ Faith Points a turn! [Yes I know they are not going to work allot of the time, but just one turn of good rolls CAN make all of the difference]

Not really, if anything it will be about even to the previous codex if not slightly weaker. 5th is more about objectives and from a quick glance the WD codex, while about the same at grabbing objectives, is weaker at holding objectives now that faith powers have become more "specialised".
If you needed more than 7-8 points in the last codex, something was going wrong.

I don't know most of the army is 3+/6++
The deticated Transports have a 6++
If you are not kitted up for MEQs your life is going to suck.
As far as the Faith Points over the course of the game you should get say 10-20 of which I see them being used up every turn for things like re-Rolling 1s shooting your Bolt Guns and Heavy Bolters, making your Multi-Meltas Twin Linked or Re-Rolling Wounds for your Twin Flamaer Pistols.

I would appreciate if someone at GW (except Mat Ward, of course) could spend a bit more time to create an actual codex, I think Sisters deserve the honour. It would also be nice if they could make Sisters of Battle Multi part plastic kits and re-did some of the models as well

I think there is not enough variety and the WD dex is just a listing of existing models.
Tried to find ideas and sadly dakka and all the rest seems to have a narrow list of units and builds agreed upon.
So basically the WD dex could have been 1-2 pre-set army lists as well....
Could field uriah J and kyrinov, not because they are interesting now but they were pieces in a 50% discount sale a few years back and I liked the models and they were dirt cheap.
Is there a place for the priests? Seems they are ignored usually...

I didn't say rubbish, just not as good as they were before, many considered the Witch Hunters to not be competitive anyway. These are basically the same with the AoF gutted and wargear removed for simplicity. 6++ is generally worthless in most cases, you're better off using a cover save and if you're in a combat you need to rely on a 6++ to win; you weren't going to win to begin with. Basically they gave up a 5++ against psychic attacks and the option to take a 3++ in favor of this 6++. This extra survivability helped them hold objectives and contest them, not impossible for them to do now, but not as easy.
If it really gives you 10-20 faith points, then that is basically the same the old system gave as well; as when faithful units died they generated extra faith points for the rest of the army to use. 16-17 was average and more than enough.
I'm not saying they're going to be unplayable either, just harder to play than they were already. Good luck with them.
1hadhq wrote:Is there a place for the priests? Seems they are ignored usually...
Repentia? I know they're not good, but I can't really think of any other units they could really fit into. They seem to want to be for assault, but would slow down Seraphim if they went with them.

Well the Codex (still waitng for my subscription copy of WD to arrive) is not especially inspiring but have been expanding my Sisters force - mainly through ebay - although picked up a few bits and pieces its not cheap compared to other armies I have expanded recently.
I am however really hoping for some cool plastic models in due course although I personally am very happy with the metal ones - just want a bit more variety and plastic is just better.

Personally, I haven't seen the 2nd part of the 'codex' yet. Regardless of the 'codex', though, I've had interest in building a witchunters force with mostly Sisters. Once I go through both parts I'm going to start making lists at least. I don't mind that the models are metal. Plastic would be cool though... would make conversions and filling in the forces a little easier.

I'd really like to have a beautiful army of Sororitas, but the new codex did nothing to make me want to buy tons of old, undynamic, very similar looking metal models.
When/if they are rereleased in plastic someday, now that will be another matter entirely.

Well I wanted a sisters army when I started playing 40k. Unfortunately by then they were essentially a discontinued line of products, so i have gone for BA and Orks instead.
What I see with these new White Dwarf Sisters Codex is hope that in the reasonably near future the sisters product line will become more available and I will actually be able to buy the models. I always wanted a sisters army, and with the rumors of plastic models as well as GW's finecast technologies, I am expecting something to come out. Unfortunately until it starts being stocked locally, I don't see myself getting my mitts on any sisters any time soon.

If the rumours of plastic multi-part Sisters had been true, I'd have bought at least a squad to use as Inquisitorial henchmen (or henchwomen, I suppose). As it is, I'm not going to pay 2011 prices for metal 1997 sculpts which will almost inevitably be replaced in the next few years.

A good few years ago I actually started collecting a Sisters army. Then I stopped. Simply for the fact that I got fed up painting multiples of the same figures. I was hoping for plastics as I think they would have been brilliant. However as they seem to be just updating the range to duffcast and will no doubt be more expensive, they can keep them! My sisters will remain on the shelf as a curiosity at best.
