Why doesnt GW make female IG models?, such as female Cadians. My regiment is supposed to be a mixed gender regiment but there are no female models. Does anyone think they will ever come out with some?

Nope! you see in in M41 Women have evolved into a completely degenerate sub species which fills the hearts of men with fear. One woman in combat is more dangerous then five men, especial that one week in which they show a relentless blood-lust unrivaled by all but the toughest Greenskin. Due to this, the Imperiam of Man thought it would be much better for morale if the women stayed home to do laundry........

Either that or the sculptors at GW have difficulties with sculpting Women, don't make me remind you all of this.....

Eye of Terra.

Cadians are easy, swap a head and/or add a helmet.

No changes are really necessary for run of the mill DKOK, SL.

If you mean by female models you'd like half naked Catachans, well...

Personally, a soldier is a soldier. We had some females in full body armor overseas. Couldn't tell they were female until they moved or spoke. I imagine the same would be true with 40k.

Thaanos, you seem to forget the Sisters of Battle, and their one chapter "The Sisterhood of the Red River". They only fight one week out of each month.

Thats the problem, there is no female heads that can be put on a Cadian model. And you were in the military i assume?

You can get female heads from a 3rd party supplier/producer/gremlin.

York/London(for weekends) oh for the glory of the british rail industry

This tread crops up regularly on Dakka, a quick search would help you.

GW has realesed female human models (barring SoB) for 40k, the reason they don't make more is probably because they didn't sell well.

Their is the other fact that a Cadian in full fatigues and body armour would look near identical at the scale used in 40K (most modern day female soldiers wear 'breast supressing' bras, because at the end of the day they would just get in the way).

its safe to say that relictors are the greatest army a man , nay human can own.

So basically...you want men models with long hair...actually short hair...just call your models women and lose.

Micro Art Studios makes some female heads.

Chapter House studios makes some, too. But I'm not a fan.

I thought I saw some wearing flak helmets and other hats that would work, but I can't recall where.

I think it would be pretty cool to have some imperial guard girls, i'd definitely buy them if i was starting an imperial army. And I don't really know why GW don't make them

It is a bit tiresome to answer this question every damn week for people not bothering to search, but Shadowforge currently makes the best conversion set:

Yup, this one crops up quite a bit.

There's a decent amount available, but it all depends on what brand of IG you want, how realistic you want to be, and what you're willing to put up with.

Sure, realistically you wouldn't be able to tell a woman in decent modern armor from a man very easily, especially at that scale. But the GW design philosophy certainly isn't about realism, and not too many people I know are in the hobby for explicit depictions of real life. There are other games for that. Unfortunately, a lot of the available options are a bit TOO exaggerated for many of our tastes, which leaves the market a bit wanting.

GW has done a few female IG figures in the past. I'll draw pictures from dakka where available.
Female Commissar

Catachan w/ Grenade Launcher

Tanith female trooper

Warrior Woman and Rocket Girl (from the Last Chancers box, still available)

Okay. Those are out of the way. There are a number of 3rd party manufacturers that make IG conversion kits or obvious stand-ins. I don't personally think most of them are very good, to be honest, but I'll leave that for you guys to determine yourselves.

Replacement heads:

As far as heads go, the Micro-Art and Chapterhouse heads were already posted. Hasslefree also does a couple sets of female human heads, but they don't have hair.

There are probably other companies that do female heads. I'm not aware of any others off the top of my head.

Conversion Packs/Replacement Minis:
Chapterhouse has a whole guardswoman kit out now, sans arms and weapons. They're kinda weedy though. I'm not really a fan of those either.

Shadowforge has a kit...I'm not really a fan of those either, but they seem to be the best of the bunch that are currently available. They also make some Catachan-ish stand-ins, as well as a couple alternative IG-ish minis, all the way down to the cheesecake/skinamax sort of deals that really seem to go far towards advancing the role of women in miniatures wargaming. I'll limit myself to posting ones with shirts on.

TINs bits has a few conversion kits, but they don't have very good pictures of the assembled minis so it's hard to judge.

Finally, Lost Clan/Phoenix Wargaming Club/Doc Thunder used to make a kit, but the purchasing options all seem to have dried up. Shame too, as I like these the best of the options out there. Still not perfect, certainly, but...better.

Miniatures of the North is working on some IG-looking Redcoats which include a few female sculpts. They appear to be the most "realistic" of all the ones I've seen. Pretty nice. Not out yet.

Raging Heroes has a charming little Disco Commissar. Cheesecake, yes, but I find it ridiculous enough to kind of work. I might get one just for the back of the coat. It's pretty cool.

Alternative Models.

Lots of companies make female minis that don't really fall into the GW style, but could potentially be made to work. They are far too many to list exhaustively, but try looking into Urban Mammoth, Infinity, the Mantic/Hasslefree partnership, and possibly even Warmachine for a few select minis.

Or this one now, haha. If I actually owned any of these I'd be tempted to make an article out of it. But I have a feeling people wouldn't check that either.

And to be frank, the search feature here kind of sucks.

If you do go shoot someone, put on a miniskirt before you do it. Then you'd go into a recursive loop and we wouldn't need an army anymore.

Warrior Woman's? I would imagine that's a leftover from her homeworld's culture, given how her description gave the planet's name as "Xenan" and how she was mentioned to be a member of the local "Artemis cult".

Yeah, it's sexualized, but still explainable in-universe, and not truly any more sexualized than male Catachani bare chests.

No, I was actually thinking of the "Kapitan" up there from Raging Heroes.

Surely the padded gogo boots and corset are at least as impractical. Especially when combined with a gas mask.

Oh, that. Yeah...

Thought it could be explained away as a jacket and tight pants, but it appears she only wears a corset on the torso, so there goes that excuse.

This is getting raw. Ugh wow.....

I actually wanted to feature a female space marine army after my sisters came to a close with the new codex. I probably still will when the standard sister isin't a billion dollars for a single troop choice (they are still metal here). I know it is bad fluff but the idea was just irrisistable.

Women make up some of the more deadly of fighting forces btw. Seraphim in their day were some of the most dangerous jump infantry there were. Banshees are deadly when they get up close and personal. Sisters of dominon, callidus assassin, death cults. Females in 40k are nasty in a fight.
