Looks like the Legion Battle Engine with Circle Warbeasts. Some speculation
that the Griffon is a kind of Circle Orboros Warped beast.

The Octosquid thing is "just plain dumb". So it's a floating squid, with a built in wizard tower, and teeth that would make a dropbear cringe.

Not a huge fan of the cover - I don't particularly care for either Circle or Legiion, but I know at least the content on the inside should be good if Wrath was any indication.

That's a bad cover. And a dumb-looking Octosquid. See, I would be hiding that thing, not placing it front and center.
Weird misfire. You know the book will have a half dozen better pictures inside.

Cover is ok. Certainly pops better than the Wrath cover, which was just a jumble at the size they used.
I think I like the Throne, it's got a nice creepy alien thing going on. If it works well with their Wrath caster I might pick one up.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

No, but since it's Warmafail, everything in it will blow everything already out off the table, guaranteeing that it and the models will sell no matter how awful they are.
Collectible PokeHordes, you gotta catch them all just to keep up with the Jones.

It's a bad cover, no doubt. I think it's because everything is too far away, in order to feature the battle engine too much. Basically a 180 away from the previous covers, which feature a 2-model conflict and a lot of background 'noise'.
Worglock wrote:

Battle engines are not only not 'must haves', they barely rate 'nice but not necessary'.
If 40k was making battle engines, they would be $150 'failcost' and your army would HAVE to feature THREE of them or you'd be stupid. And still lose to Grey Knights.
But yessss, rage harder 40k fanboi! My gaming company produces a tight tournament ruleset and acknowledges the internet exists! Yours demands you continue to buy from failing one-person stores while your models melt in sunlight!

I smell either a troll, a GW fanboy or somebody who heard about the game from a friend of a friend of a friend who saw a game once. You can make a competitive army with the models available on the first prime book (with 1-2 added bits). Warmahordes has not really followed the MUST GET and even the insanely expensive battle engines are not displacing the power pieces from before wrath.
If Dominion is anything like Wrath, nothing will be broken and thing that were unsupported will get some lovin' in the form of UA/synergetic units/new locks' spells. Heck more than half the stuff in Wrath will not even threaten the current meta at all or the staple units in most competitive armies (with perhaps exception to Retribution who were a new army and still lacked a lot of supporting models).
Cover wise I'd hoped they would pick something like the minions cover with huge beasties tearing at each other instead of what looks like a battlefield shot and therefore way too busy to have a wow factor.

Look at Worglock's post history. Realize he is either a troll, a rabid 40K fanboi, or both. To his credit, he at least explained his viewpoint for once, even if he's totally wrong.
As for Battle Engines, do they have any special rule that makes them immune to Armor Piercing? Cuz if not, I can't wait for someone to put one of those on the table against my Cygnar. Two Hunters. Battle Engine? GG, waste of 9 points there.

Forest and clouds don't block LoS and they can be targeted in melee by shooting for not penalty. They can also be repaired like a jack. Worglock, for someone who's vocally opposed to Warmahordes so much, you do seem to post in our threads a lot. Me thinks thou dost protest too much, my dear troll.

Yes, they aren't on Small (+2 POW) medium or large (1/2 ARM) bases. Armour Piercing does nothing to Battle Engines.
Probably best to ignore Worglock mate.

I actually like the octosquid, I think it's pretty cool. In regards to anyone else of the mindset that you have to buy the latest, biggest models to keep up, I play Cryx where our battle engine is a nice centerpiece on the display table. Granted, I think it's a pretty good looking model, but I haven't invested in one yet.

Don't have mine yet(getting it in 2 weeks for Scaverous Theme list being built up during a Journeyman League), but it seems useful if you're running a good amount of Incorporeal models.

Anyone that actually knows anything about Warmachine at all knows that The Prime units (The first WM book) are still the widest used and form the core of a good many armies to this day.
Not to mention that one can build lists of Prime only models and do just fine.
